BAT goes to 10V @WOT

What the hell is up with that? I checked on my scan tool, @ WOT, my BAT volts drop to 10v's and fast. Its seems that its causing the LC-1 to throw a low voltage code. I got on it today and noticed the BAT gauge is playing along with the scan tool so its definately happening. I also noticed that the truck bogs pretty good when this happens. Any idea of what could be happening? Seems fine wise and always starts right up. I may take the ALT off tomorrow and have it tested.

i'd also search for bad grounds, connections, bad wireing ...

maybe FP getting fawked ...

maybe clogged fuelfilter (pump has to work harder) ...

and of course, the ALT you already mentioned - is an option ...

... just a quick brain-fart :2cents:

So I checked all my grounds and any kind of battery/ALT connections. Everything is good. My ALT, I took off just now to go have tested. When you spin the shaft, it squeaks and the pulley looks like it wobbles a little. It did however, pass the test at Autozone. Last night when the BAT voltage dropped, it seemed to be kind of like a short. Like it was coming and going real fast. Should I just get a new ALT?

did you voltage drop your cables when loaded? if the connections are tight and clean that doesnt mean its good

Just put the new ALT on, the needle barely moves now. Hopefully that was it. If not I dont feel TOO bad since the bearings were squeaking and it looked like the shaft was bent.

could be you a/c delete pulley kit is misaligned, casuing too much stress on the pulleys.

Could be. It is perfectly straight though. My last ALT that took a dump had bent shaft also and that was before my AC delete. Maybe truck like s to bend things I dont know.

Was the ALT. Trucksruns better than it has in a long time. Ive had low voltage at high RPM issues for a while now but hads recently come to this. Needle barely moves now and spent about 2 hours blowing off steam trying to get it to fold but no go. Its running great.

I just got the 105 stock replacenment from Autozone. One of these days I promised myself Ild save up and get the 140. My belt was way to tight which is what bent the shaft I think. I remember about a month or two ago, I was driving and my belt kept squealing. We were having a blizzard, just started. We had 50-60mph winds with snow and I was drivng straight into it. I dropped my daughter off with her mom and when I got home, I looked at the belt, it felt tight but it was so cold and the wind blew so hard, the whole front of my engine was covered in ice. The belt had ice on it too. I had tightend the belt and forgot to lloosen it back up.

so did that fix the low voltage and did they test your old one?

Yeah they tested it and it passed. I bought a new one since the bearings were squeaking so loud. It DID fix it. Voltage looks great now, better than it has in years.
