Nice job sir. I also just finish installing a flat lift off hood as well. It removes a bunch of weight. Painted, with 6 quick latches, it weighed 14lbs compared to 50lbs for the stock hood including all accessories. I like the green with the black .

You mean the stock hood hindges ? Yes. Its easy . Just put 2 of the quick latches on each corner and get the bolt on hood from VFN . The bolt on hood bolts on to the factory springs and is shorter that way it doesn’t go all the way up past your windshield wipers . I don’t have windshield wipers so to me it made sense

The bolt on hood weighs 8lbs more then the pin on hood though . My stock hood had a dent from losing a stock motor mount on a transbrake launch so I got rid of it since this is more of a street/strip car . The weight reduction was my main reason for this

Nice!!! I also swapped stock radiator support and front bumper to aluminum. Rear bumper will be in future as soon. I keep all stock parts tho. I made it myself, with a 110v Lincoln & spool with argon. Now I can lift front bumper with just one hand.

Nice man. Sucks about the crankshaft . I don’t know how mine has held up. I’ve pushed my motor to 30psi with 21 degrees of timing . Ran 6.39 at 110 but I’m rwd and very light . Plus I gotta a powerglide. I think it’s a lot less load on the motor and that’s why the crank is holding up. It does have rods, pistons , and main caps . But still has the stock crank and 2 bolt main block . I was 3050 with me in it when I made that pass. I just kept turning up the boost and Raising timing and it juts kept getting faster . Started at 6.6 at 106 and worked my way down. Now it’s 2600lbs and it has a bigger throttle body and I will be able to used the transbrake with the new 8.5 rear Im putting in. I’m gonna try to get into the 6.2-6.0 range . Rear also has 3.23’s instead of my current 3.08’s.

I still running on stock crankshaft. Everything else aftermarket like JE heavy duty pistons, eagle h beam rods, splayed main caps, 2001 vortec heads swapped and etc.

splayed caps didn’t failing, only the stock crankshaft snapped in 3 pieces. Everything else safe because of Holley Dominator ECM. I was driving in highway @ approx 60-65 when crankshaft snapped then somehow ECM shut it down quickly. I don’t know how but pretty much Holley saved whole engine.

I’m still running on AWD and 700r4 modded. Stock 3:42 and I should weigh my Syclone soon. How did you get it to 2600 lbs?

For some reason I can only post pictures now.
So once I went rwd . You lose line 200-250lbs off the front . Lightweight wheels . The powerglide saves 40lbs from the 700r4. I have Caltrac monoleafs in the back . Coilovers and hood saved a bunch of weight . I race without the tailgate or passenger seat as well. No ac, no heater box, no window wipers . Interior is all there though . Gutted front fenders . I still have a radio And speakers . No abs. Little by little I’ve been removing weight . You would be surprised. It all adds up. If you have an Instagram, I go by 2spdsy . I’ll send you every video I have . The last time I ran the car in the 1/4 it went 10.3 at 118 and I let off after the 1000ft mark because my distributor was bad and the truck started to miss after 5500rpm. This was also with my 6262 turbo . Now I have a 6466. The powerglide and rwd really wakes up the truck on the top end . I picked up 6mph and 3/10’s in the 1/8 everything being the same just by switching trans and going rwd. I was surprised . Went from a 6.98 at 99 to 6.60 at almost 105. It’s been tough to race this year . Only 1/8 mile Tracks were open sometimes . My number is 818 381-7265. Shoot me a text and I’ll send you some videos or I’m also on Whats App which is faster . We can always exchange knowledge or at least the little I’ve learned about these trucks . Happy new year. Your pics are cool.
