Bell Lowering leafsprings.....................

Part No: Bel5954, this will lower the rear of my Sy 2" right? The Summit racing price is $79.00, is that each or a pair? I want to get rid of my blocks.

Anyone with pics of Sy installed?

Is the installation easy? Are there online instructions?

Thanks,

I think this one has those springs... well maybe it had fiberglass springs that broke in half when we lifted the truck.

i would say about 1 1/2 after they settled. if ti wasnt snowing i'd take a pic for you to see

Historically Significant
I've got 'em on my '93 Ty and the height is perfect. The ride is also less harsh compared to lowering blocks.

Instillation is pretty straightforward. You can do it by yourself, but it's hella easier if you have a friend helping.

Give them a couple weeks to stretch out and settle.

Is that with the Bell springs? If so, I don't want to do it. It also looks as if the front is being supported (under a jack or so) so that would cause the rear to be lower. I don't personally want the Ghetto look of a hydralically lowered '72 Cutlass with 12" wire wheels.

Code what?
No, those are with broken flex a forms. I just orderd the bell tech springs for the sy to replace the flex a forms that have hairline cracks. I dont want to risk breaking them, and they are a stiff ride. I'll also be replacing the blocks on the ty with the bell tech leafs. I have not heard of any complaints about them.

i wouldn't use that pic as reference for the lowered sy look my guess is the springs are, in fact broken in that pic and the engine isn't in the engine compartment...or maybe the engine's in the bed...i've heard nothing but good about lowering springs (made of spring steel)...i didn't realize they were that affordable...i busted my ass doing blocks and the passenger side block shifted a little...and also i've heard of more than one fiberglass spring breaking...

Big in the rear
Ok the 3in drop springs that are at summit for 79. They are only going to lower a stock ride hight syclone 1 1/2in. after settling. I have 2in drop blocks on right now and hate the ride. But i dont want it to get any higher stance. Do they make a 4in drop spring or what?

part number 5954 seems to be the only pn for the older gen in general...i should be a 3" drop, but compared to what? it also specifies in the description that it's for all 2wd trucks...i called belltech and they said that the dimesions of his springs measure 2 1/2" wide...26" from the center of the springpack (eyelet) to the front of the spring...28" from center to the rear...what would these do to a syclone? I searched and found that krazycaese's truck didn't lower when he put them on...i realize they need to settle a little...im looking for the equivalent drop of 2" blocks...anyone try the 5954 on a syclone yet?

I would like to know more on this to. if the springs drop a stock S-10 4in total after settling. That will only be about the same as what i have right now. Mabey even a little higher.

Truckless Wonder
I have the 3" drop on my Ty that give supposed 2" effective.

It is still top-heavy with rancho's on 7 out of 9 and a swaybar and the front dropped accordingly.

It doesn't seem too much lower visually, but it bottoms when 2 people on the tailgate open and bottoms sometimes with someone in the back.

I think finding a sweet spot with these trucks suspension-wise is an issue.
Thinking of bailing and just going coil-over...

Daron has them on his Sy with a 1" block I believe.
I have them on my Ty with a 1" block also.

They do come with poly bushings andthe advertised 3" drop is for a factory S-Series, not a SyTy.
So that is really a 2" or less drop to us.

I found once I launched on them a few times and let them settle in I got a full 2" drop out of them.
Problem is now one side sits lower than the other.
Can't help but wonder how tough these springs are...

I too am on the edge of bailing on leafs and going ladder bar/coilover setup.

what kind of kit are you looking at doing? is there anything out there that's half decent, or would it need to be a custom fabbed kit?

I am gathering information on a Competition Engineering Ladder bar setup and waiting to see if JS is gonna tackle a rear kit.

If he does my Ty will be on a trailer on its way to IN for install.
