Im looking to purchase a in car camera system for filming at the track and on the street. I guess it would have to be in digital format to upload to youtube, etc. Any suggestions on a good quality set up would be much apreciated!

Canon HF100. Works good in low light conditions as well.

Make sure you stay with a hard drive based camera and not discs. I tried running one in my race car and it skips really bad. I do race on dirt, so it is fairly rough, but I still think you should stay away from any non hard drive based camera anyways.

For budget, GoPro all the way. Take HD vid/pics, comes with a waterproof casing and has a variety of mounts to fit how you want to set it up.

Get a 32G card and you are set for around $285-300 + card depending where you buy from.

These vids arent even HD and are compressed just for quicker load time:

The GoPro is the best seller and is getting the most buzz. GoPro is coming out with 3D features, but you have to buy two cameras. You might also want to consider the Contour HD. Contour has a GPS model and bluetooth (think smart phone as a real-time viewfinder) is in the works. Both can shoot 1080p and both have similar features. The shows on the Discovery Channel use both cameras.

The GoPro is easier to find and probably a little cheaper. Personally, I think the Contour is a little easier to use. I also like the Contour's shape over the GoPro (helmet and torso mounts are goofy). Either way, both cameras are worth the money.

Just wanted to say another thing about GoPro.

I had misplaced my USB cable for the camera, so I contacted GoPro to ask how much for a replacement. They emailed me back, asked for my serial number and my address and had one sent out in the mail, NO CHARGE.

Now if that isnt badass and taking care of your customers....

BTW, if you guys didnt know, GoPro also has a contest every single day by giving away everything they make. You have to fill out the form daily of course (if you dont win), but it takes all of 20 seconds and the payoff of getting every single item is worth it.
