Blew my motor... but it was worth it.

So I'm crusing right along down I-40 today and run up on a bright yellow stang with a black scoop..big tach.. middle age guy car was obviously his baby. all shiny and new.... anyway he moves over and I go to pass. I lingered beside him and sure enough wants to play.. I let him jump first and then walked him to 120 plus pushin 16 lbs. He never reeled me back in.. just stayed back there . Let off and coasted back to 65. So he roars back up beside me wanting more.. This time I let him get a length on me and then I ripped by him and pulled a length or two..and just held him.. By this time we were entering a construction area and I went back to normal with him riding my ass. My exit was coming up and as I merged over he rips by my ass end. I could tell he wasn't happy with the fact that a S-10 just spanked his pride and joy. So anyway.. as I go up the ramp the struck shudders steadily. I am thinking its the trans again.. But nope its the motor.. has a rough idle that makes the motor and the rest of the truck jerk.. checked plug wires ( thought I had burned through one. but no obvious marks.) Had to limp it back home 45 miles away. Truck runs ok at highway speeds.. but has obviously lost half of its power. shudders and flutters the whole truck.. Pop the hood and let it idle.. some smoke under the hood.. Then here comes the light blueish white smoke out the pipes. enough to make a nice haze within minutes. I plan on pulling the wires, plugs.. and doing a compression check.. But Im afraid I already know its bad news.. I have had bad wires etc before.. but this is different feeling... Feel free to chime in with any past experiences..that might lead me in the right direction.............. and any numbers of sy engine builders near western NC... LOL

Great story,Sounds like my engine after I ran it too hard last fall. I cracked a piston in between the compression rings. luckily the peices stayed in place and saved the cylinder. it would idle rough but ran ok off idle and up. if I pulled the oil cap it would puff smoke signals indicated blow and piston damage. dont waste your time with a compression check if its got lots of blow by. its tear down time.

[Kinda off topic] jwaller, mind if I shoot you a PM about a motor build from you guys, and some questions I have, or should I email? [/Kinda off topic]

When a guy can somewhat afford a new engine, then its all fun and games, but for a guy like me, a blown engine would be hell D:

Sounds like it was fun playing with the stang guy, and good luck on the rebuild
