bolt on brake kit.

I want to upgrade my front brakes but still use stock wheels. I searched and found CBR brake kits but no links??? Help. Also I guess I need to do some mods to the spindles?? what needs to be done to make them work? Thanks. Does anyone make a bolt on kit without mods to fit?

Mine are CBR bolt on ....using stock wheels...I cant find any part#'s....

www.cbrperformance.com i've had the LS1 kit sitting around for like 6 months now, finially gonna install it next week. ive read the instructions and they are top notch. you shouldnt have a problem but if you do, you can send them to in for some more $$.

CBR work great, done 2 now... Fit in the stock wheels if you go with the ls1 f-body kit. You basically need a sawsall, grinder and some time.

It's a big, big install and requires destroying some of your ball joints so plan on doing a full ball joint job as well which can add many hours to the install. I didn't realize that until I was knee deep in the install. I think it ended up taking me a week altogether. Including all the time I wasted trying to find people with the correct tools to cut, press, and grind what I needed. I don't have the benefit of a machine shop in my garage like some do

Also be careful if you have tape weights on the inside of your rim, the clearance is so tight that they can hit the brake caliper; mine did.

Often seperating the balljoints ruins the balljoint boots. In adddition unless the balljoints have really lows miles on them, they often could use replacement particularily the low ball joints.

Dave is 100% correct, and in addition to what he stated, the tool that was necessary to press the ball joints out of the control arm, resulted in crushing the tip of the ball joint, as it was so firmly stuck in the control arm.

Not only that, but the original ball joints are riveted in place, so mine required some serious destruction before all 5 of those hefty rivets broke loose. I said this project was a big, big one, because (for me) there were major roadblocks around every corner I turned. I guess the biggest problem was that I wasn't prepared for the job to be as big as it was. So that's why I'm giving you notice ahead of time

Yes those rivets are difficult to remove. I had the ideal situation, I remove the control arms out of the truck. With a drill press I removed the rivet heads, however the rivets still were firmly in place. I ended up pushing out the rivets with a press to remove the rivet. I am sure I could done it with a drill, but I was at work with a small machine shop so I used the equipment...I am sure it really sucks with a hand drill in the truck.

5 LB sledge is ur friend when dislodging ball-joints from spindle.
I used pickle fork first time & yes, it does usually fubar the ball-joint boots.
Second time during CBR install, I just used 5 lb sledge and knocked with a good amount of force on the side of the spindle where the ball-joint is.

ya dont use pickle fors or presses on the ball joints. at work ive always used a bfh hitting the spindle. works EVERY time

I didnt remove my spindle from the a-arms, had to be carefull with the sawsall, but there was no way I was dealing with the ball joints so it wasnt really that big of a deal.

Just got the CBR f-body kit today. Very nice kit. Instructions are great. Loks of the kit is high quality IMO. Cant wait till I have the time to install. So the spindles can be cut while still on the truck? Is it worth the time to leave them on? I am very good with a saw. ( I use them everyday at work) Hit it with a die grinder and then paint. What paint works good?? Thanks

I might remember wrong, but I thought You need the LT1 type f-body brakes to work with stock wheels, not the LS1s...or am I wrong ?
