boost controller/wg setting

So my question is what to do with the stock boost solonoid when you've got a boost controller (electronic BlitzIII)? I've got a stock tuned truck (stock chip, 2bar).

Next is the wastegate. I bought a new wg actuator for my new stage1 turbo but how do you tell what length you need the wg acc. rod/arm at? Does the accuator push or pull the flapper?

Also, which position on the WG is open? The flapper all the way towards the firewall or front bumper?

I've got an idea and have talked to a couple of people about this, what about your guys thoughts? Any troubleshooting tips to figure this out would be great. Thx guys.

The interesting thing is, I think this was his first time doing videos and it goes to show you that it isn't an impossible task.

I think that with a little work, he could easily have sponsors and a regular show. Here is an example of what I consider a show: http://www.tuneyfish.com/channel_detail.php?channelid=82

All he would need is a name for his show, an intro and a camera guy. I'm going to be asking about the demand for these types of shows at SEMA and if there is as much demand as I think there is we might be seeing a new form of entertainment coming soon so get your video cameras ready! :D

Question, what would you do with the stock boost solonoid after installing an aftermarket boost controller? I am still using a stock chip...If I removed the stock solonoid wouldn't I throw a code? Also, how would the ECM monitor boost?

Re: boost controller/wg setting

if you unplug the factory control unit, you will be relying solely on the aftermarket unit for boost control. the ECU doesnt need a signal from anything at that point.

you just need to be careful with the EBC that's all.

which EBC did you get? have you set it up? i am handy with the AVC-r and the Profec B Spec II if you need any help.

Re: boost controller/wg setting

Thx. I hooked up the Blitz id-III. When I disconnected the solonoid my DM went crazy with DTC error MALF 45: 02 Rich. It just kept pinging like mad.

Re: boost controller/wg setting

that's weird. mine will run like normal, just at lower boost.

were you over boosting perhaps? sticky WG?

something sounds weird.

Yeah, something is weird alright. I'm gonna go check out mrweelr's Blitz setup to make sure mine is plumbed correctly. I know the blitz instructions are shit but I figured the plumbing was pretty basic.

Re: boost controller/wg setting

it does sound like something is not right. perhaps the plumbing or the settings on the EBC.
