Bought a Porsche Cayenne Turbo and now

Bought a Porsche Cayenne Turbo and now Im losing interest in keeping my Typhoon.

Its hard to compare the trucks because they are two different creatures. The Typhoon is a lot faster, but the Cayenne handles a lot better. For comfort and driveability the Cayenne wins also.

Overall I really enjoy driving the Porsche a lot more, its a lot slower but it doesnt really feel that way. The biggest thing is the launching, the Cayenne refuses to launch the same way the Typhoon does. When I try to build up the turbo and hold the break and when I release the Cayenne goes into some safe mode and take off slower than normal. If it didnt do that it should launch much better.

But now I wondering why I should even keep the Typhoon because I never drive it. What is it worth? its 93 Ty with 67,000 miles.

Maybe 15k if you are lucky. Most of the time mods =.10 on the dollar.Mileage and condition are the key factors.Rare colors help as well.

Well, man. I would of never guessed that a $90,000 SUV would be better all around then a $15,000 14 year old truck.

But maybe that's just me

You dont buy theses things for gas milage, or for user comfort, or towing things. You buy them for the history of them. The look, the feel. Looks like you already have something now that can give you all but the over all performance of the Ty. But if you wanted something as fast why didnt you just get a GT2, and buy a beater truck to pull things with?

Re: Bought a Porsche Cayenne Turbo and now

I recently purchased a BMW X5 4.8is. I thought I to might not enjoy the Typhoon as much as I used to. However I really enjoy just looking at the Ty and although it is not a refined as the newer car, I still enjoy when the turbo kicks in.

I test drove the Cayenne Turbo. Would have probably preferred the Cayenne just because it was faster/little more fun to drive. Also, I was gaining about the same amount of space from my previous car. I just couldn't justify the extra 25K to 30K difference.

Good luck, you have an awesome truck. Give some opinions if you ever decide to chip the Cayenne. I guess you can pick up about 60-70HP from it.

FWIW, when I talked to a Porsche dealer about boost-launching the Cayenne Turbo, he said that all it would take is a chip. He also said "You didn't hear that from me, since that will void your warranty".

Nice truck.

I love watching that thing launch. You were at the 60' mark and the mustang was still spinning. :rotf:

Re: Bought a Porsche Cayenne Turbo and now

A Typhoon is an enthusiasts vehicle. A Porsche Cayenne (While very expensive) is a dime a dozen luxury SUV with a bit of power. If I wanted a daily driver SUV that had a little power, I might consider the Cayenne and X5. I myself would probably go with the X5 as I'm not fond on the Cayennes appearance. The Typhoon is a fun vehicle. The Porsche is a large scale production, commuting vehicle.

With that said, I don't know anyone that flips out talking about how cool and badass the Cayenne is. I rarely ever see a Typhoon on the street where as the Cayenne and it's VW variant are very common. I myself, wouldn't sell the Ty as it has a much larger cool factor. I'd keep em' both.

Sell it if you don't have an interest...don't know why people tell you to keep it if you don't have an interest in it. Unless its a phase your going through, get rid of it.

Really if my vehicle is only worth $10-$15,000 then its pointless to sell. Maybe its life will last a little longer now that its no longer my daily driver. :)
