brake pad only contacting outside of rotor surface? after cbr/ls1 upgrade

The drivers side was fine after i shimmed the caliper out. The passenger side is fine, with new ls1 caliper, other than its only using the outside inch or so of the rotor for contact? The rotor still has surface rust on the inside, basically most of the rotor. This is on the outside of rotor. The inside shows even wear. I dont get it? Has anyone ever seen this before with new pads or rotors?

Is there any way this could be related to the cbr brackets?

something warped? tried swapping pads side to side to see if the pad is warped?

can't be the bracket or the inside would be off too. it's just one pad that's not running flat against the rotor - thus the problem has to be there...
Either the pad is cocked in the bracket, or the shim behind it is uneven ( maybe something between the pad & the shim?), or the caliper piston is not pressing evenly on the backside...
Check it carefully, & if everything is the same thickness, the shim is straight/flat, & the piston isn't crooked; just let it "run in"...the pad will wear down quickly till it makes full contact.

well, took it all apart, swapped pads, bled the brakes and same thing. I measured both pad thickness & put a dial indicator on the rotor and all is good and straight. impressions left on the back of the pad shows both pistons working. I did notice that the caliper looks like its spread out, the drivers side pad sits flush against the outside of caliper fingers ( opposite side of the pistons) and the pass side has clearance on the inside of the fingers til about halfway up. Hope this isnt confusing, hard to explain. Basically it seems like the caliper is spread out or the fingers are bent out?? maybe from and overheat, these are rebuilds.

I had almost same thing on my caprice when i did c5 brakes, looked like pad would only cover half the rotor. pads needed to wear in, they were cut at an angle, new GM pads.

People have said that the ls1 calipers can distort if they are stressed enough. The C5 calipers are supposed to be the same basic design except that they are pressure-cast so they are stronger. Can you measure the caliper to see if it has opened up?
