installed a set of composite flex-a-form springs 245 rate 3 months ago. was looking under ty today pass. side leaf is split, twisted, cracked, right by where the exhaust pipe goes over. i have 1" lowering blocks, 11" zr1 style wheels on back & a suspension tech. sway bar, the manufacturer says the sway bar may be putting to much pressure on spring!! has anyone heard of similar problem, thanks, as of today they said they will send me a new spring, anyone have any thoughts on what caused this breakage,

I know nothing about that particular composite leaf, but I do know that excesive heat can weaken fiberglass. My pipes run straight out from the mufflers with turn downs on them cuz my axle is now right where they used to go over with the 4 in drop on the back. At first I was werry to have them under the gas tank like that but it's fine with that big 'ol plastic guard on it.

Keep your exhaust as far from the spring as possible

I would not use blocks with drop springs?

Did you loose the wedge?

If you talk to George (owner of Flex-a-form) about using lowering blocks on his fiberglass springs he will absolutely lose it. His company was once rather active in SyTy's and I met him at KC. Anyway, he does not recomend either a sway bar or blocks, most especially blocks..
I have had the flex-a-forms on our Ty for like 4-5 years now without a prob.

Daron, What are you talking about sway bar? Did they recommend not using sway bar with flex a forms?

Do you have sway bar on yours?

Thanks

George told me he doesnt see a need for a sway bar on Ty's equiped with his springs and did not like the idea. No, I do not have one on the Ty. I had ordered the ADDCO years ago and found out that it will not work with drop springs, so it is sitting in the shed...

Put the thin part in BACK or you will cause vibrations that can destroy your transfer case and rear end. If you want it lower than the glass leaves allow then simply move back your shackles.

With my slightly lowered springs, I eliminated the wedges altogether. I measured the driveline angle and it's straighter than with the wedges in.
