Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

Re: Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

Did Bubba ever state what expectations the owner requested from his Ty? From everything I've read, the only statements made were that it would be road worthy again.
Is it possible that the owner just wanted a truck he could drive and didn't care if it performed as originally built? Has it ever been stated how much boost he intended to push through this engine?
I'm in NO WAY supporting the atrocities that have been done to this TY, I'm just curious if we may be viewing this from our own point of views and not that of the people involved.
I would be very interested to hear what the owner asked for.
There are numerous people out there that purchase vehicles for the way they look and not for how they perform, like V6 Camaro's.

I don't know the answers to any of those ?s. I do know that the "how much boost are you going to run?" Question has been asked twice on his Facebook page and has not been answered either time.

Jeffrey Dolezal said:
I am the owner of this typhoon. Been reading these threads with interest. My primary goal was to save a classic vehicle from the junk yard and turn it into a reliable all season daily driver. The vehicle had turned into a money pit for the previous owner and I didn't want it to become the same for me. Thousands of dollars were thrown at the vehcile prior to my ownership to fix same recurring problem. Rough starting, running excessively rich, electronics not matching the new cam specs, aftermarket chips not in sync with anytihng, and finally a complete refusal for the engine to start, just two days after the mechanic I first choose worked with it for over a period of over 4 months, finally telling me they could not fix the motor and suggest I pull it out and replace it with a Jasper crate motor. Until I found a proper path to go, this classic just sat in my driveway for two years and I pondered offering it for sale as a parts car or just going straight to the junk yard. I contacted several custom shops in the DC area for finally coming across Bubba's East Coast. After inspecting the vehicle on Day One, Bubba, Tom and I reviewed the repair history paperwork I had obtained from the previous owner to diagnosis the nature of the previous work done and the reason for it. There were a few information gaps on work done based aftermarket parts they found installed so we called the previous owner and he filled in the gaps on the work he had preformed. Based on all of this, together with a leap of faith that the core of motor itself was good, Bubba came up with a radical but economical plan to salvage this beast. Just adding more parts and tossing money on top of broken or incorrect components was not going to help. Bubba deconstructed the motor and rebuilt as seen here. He had it running and purring in the first week. Based on this first success, I decided to add more modules and cost to the build, including a complete new paint job (pearl white). I am looking forward to seeing the project finished, running it through a Dyno to document and fine tune its true power and potential. It may end up on the track as well some day soon to for some real world numbers. I used to drag race a 1969 Mustang with a rebulit Boss 302 motor, all hand controlled of course. I am not a timid driver anfd can't wait to put the typhoon to the test, when the settings are appropriate. Some previous cars I owned and driven with hand controls include a 1968 Shelby GT500, 1969 Mustang Mach I 351, 1969 Mustang Boss 302, 1986 IROC Camaro, 1999 Dakota RT, and an off road modified 1997 Grand Cherokee (I rolled this on an icy mountain off road trail but that's another story in itself).

Guy seems happy and on a budget... Good luck to him. Wonder where he took it to before.

If he broke down the motor then why didn't they just go back to stock internals and read up on how to tune it properly?

"I am not a timid driver anfd can't wait to put the typhoon to the test, when the settings are appropriate" He going to blow the motor and blame in on shitty GM quality

And the latest (from a invite to have the owner come on by and say hi!)

Hey Paul, after the very cruel and hateful things posted on our face book page about Bubbas approach to the Typhoon do you think any of those guys are man enough to apologize to Bubba for the manner in which they conducted themselves? Our customer posting this testimonial was as big a shock to us this morning as it is to you. Perhaps you could also offer Bubba the same invitation to join you on the SyTy forum as it is clear there is a lot folks could learn from Bubba. I did not want to engage the debate as we are very positive, upbeat and honest people who work extremely hard at everything we do. This car community is supposed to be a brotherhood not separated by making demeaning, hateful statements but coming together as a whole and enjoying the hobby. Such was certainly not the case in this instance and it turned into a witch hunt, a savage one at that and in all reality it does not make the good folks over at the SyTy forum look like a hobby friendly group of people! And, so you will know I am not just Bubbas manager I am also his Dad so to watch the approach those people took was extremely angering. With our new TV show about to air, all of our media coverage and over a million fans and friends of fans on face book, our previous TV show now airing in China and New Zealand we have certainly made our mark in the industry and worked gruelingly hard to get where we are. Perhaps next time the urge to pull the trigger and fire at someone a more diplomatic and mature approach could be adopted. We are all in this together and share a love for this very special hobby. Working together as a community we can all learn more and be better at what we do but learning from situations like these to all be better people is what counts the most.

"A million fans and friends of fans? Hell, with that mentality, I have a million Facebook friends too.

Three things...

Bubba has been invited to join in here by several of us, myself included.

Bubba's dad is a dipshit too. But at least now we know why Bubba bubba'd up this Typhoon. Bubba got bubba'd by Bubba's dad.

The owner still doesn't have a clue, but I'm looking forward to his ~150hp dyno numbers and mid 16 second track times. Heat soak is a bitch. Although, maybe that "cold air intake" will work for them.

Re: Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

Budget usually doesnt equal repaint , the money would have been better spent on the engine IMO ---

Well, his repaint was with cladding on - a mop wheel and a spray is pretty cheap I imagine!

Besides, he said he spent a tonne on it to begin with - still amazing that with his awareness of Facebook, he didn't google Typhoon and find this forum.

Whatever - the guy's happy. Maybe when he realises the truck isn't as powerful as it once was, he'll stop on in. And spend another tonne on replacing all the hacked off parts.

Question is - does this qualify for the graveyard?

Re: Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

let me be the first to apologize but not on Facebook since i didn't go there.

if the guys happy and seems it- so be it-i am too for him.
the guy has had some cool ass cars in the past i wouldn't mind owning even with the hand controls.
bubba has to make a living even if we don't like it and since it wasn't one of our trucks-it is what it is.

i am so done with this thread i cant wait to make fun of other members on here now!
j/k- i love you meat-heads.

Re: Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

Well, after reading the owners statement, I must say that I was wrong in my assumption that
he was just looking for a reliable driver. The fact that he wants to put it on a dyno and " fine
tune its true power and potential." means that he thinks it's gonna run like a Typhoon should.
Hats off to Bubba for another con job well done! It's too bad you didn't convince him to
destroy a Mustang and leave the Ty for a REAL enthusiast.

Cuz we all know blowthru's dont work.:roll:

We're not saying you can't, we're just saying it's beyond Bubbas capabilities. He's using a K&N cold air setup as the carb-bonnet for crying out loud.

This is what I think of when I hear "blow though carb"
