Re: Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

i think what everyone is missing here is that it's not even a blow through carb. Edelbrock doesn't even make blow through carbs at all. Edelbrock themselves will tell you that their carbs can not be used in a blow through applications. Or maybe bubba made his own solid floats and modified the carb to be blow through....but i'd be willing to bet he just bolted on a hot off the summit shelf edelbrock carb.

Didn't even think of that...Looks like an Edelbrock 14063 (they only appear to make one black carb with an electrical choke)

Re: Bubba's hacked up ****ery on some poor guys Typhoon

I commented on the pic of the carb, asking what they had to do to get it to work, since Edelbrock doesn't make a blow thru. Waiting in a response. I wasn't ugly about it and I didn't attack them, so hopefully it wasn't deleted.

Jeffrey Dolezal
I am the owner of this typhoon. Been reading these threads with interest. My primary goal was to save a classic vehicle from the junk yard and turn it into a reliable all season daily driver. The vehicle had turned into a money pit for the previous owner and I didn't want it to become the same for me. Thousands of dollars were thrown at the vehcile prior to my ownership to fix same recurring problem. Rough starting, running excessively rich, electronics not matching the new cam specs, aftermarket chips not in sync with anytihng, and finally a complete refusal for the engine to start, just two days after the mechanic I first choose worked with it for over a period of over 4 months, finally telling me they could not fix the motor and suggest I pull it out and replace it with a Jasper crate motor. Until I found a proper path to go, this classic just sat in my driveway for two years and I pondered offering it for sale as a parts car or just going straight to the junk yard. I contacted several custom shops in the DC area for finally coming across Bubba's East Coast. After inspecting the vehicle on Day One, Bubba, Tom and I reviewed the repair history paperwork I had obtained from the previous owner to diagnosis the nature of the previous work done and the reason for it. There were a few information gaps on work done based aftermarket parts they found installed so we called the previous owner and he filled in the gaps on the work he had preformed. Based on all of this, together with a leap of faith that the core of motor itself was good, Bubba came up with a radical but economical plan to salvage this beast. Just adding more parts and tossing money on top of broken or incorrect components was not going to help. Bubba deconstructed the motor and rebuilt as seen here. He had it running and purring in the first week. Based on this first success, I decided to add more modules and cost to the build, including a complete new paint job (pearl white). I am looking forward to seeing the project finished, running it through a Dyno to document and fine tune its true power and potential. It may end up on the track as well some day soon to for some real world numbers. I used to drag race a 1969 Mustang with a rebulit Boss 302 motor, all hand controlled of course. I am not a timid driver anfd can't wait to put the typhoon to the test, when the settings are appropriate. Some previous cars I owned and driven with hand controls include a 1968 Shelby GT500, 1969 Mustang Mach I 351, 1969 Mustang Boss 302, 1986 IROC Camaro, 1999 Dakota RT, and an off road modified 1997 Grand Cherokee (I rolled this on an icy mountain off road trail but that's another story in itself).

Hey Paul, after the very cruel and hateful things posted on our face book page about Bubbas approach to the Typhoon do you think any of those guys are man enough to apologize to Bubba for the manner in which they conducted themselves? Our customer posting this testimonial was as big a shock to us this morning as it is to you. Perhaps you could also offer Bubba the same invitation to join you on the SyTy forum as it is clear there is a lot folks could learn from Bubba. I did not want to engage the debate as we are very positive, upbeat and honest people who work extremely hard at everything we do. This car community is supposed to be a brotherhood not separated by making demeaning, hateful statements but coming together as a whole and enjoying the hobby. Such was certainly not the case in this instance and it turned into a witch hunt, a savage one at that and in all reality it does not make the good folks over at the SyTy forum look like a hobby friendly group of people! And, so you will know I am not just Bubbas manager I am also his Dad so to watch the approach those people took was extremely angering. With our new TV show about to air, all of our media coverage and over a million fans and friends of fans on face book, our previous TV show now airing in China and New Zealand we have certainly made our mark in the industry and worked gruelingly hard to get where we are. Perhaps next time the urge to pull the trigger and fire at someone a more diplomatic and mature approach could be adopted. We are all in this together and share a love for this very special hobby. Working together as a community we can all learn more and be better at what we do but learning from situations like these to all be better people is what counts the most.

Thanks for the invite to Syty.net Paul. I checked it out and read some of mean and nasty comments that were being said about the build, and Bubba, and even reposting the picture of myself and my wife with Bubba with i cant kick him in the ass comment because I am in a wheelchair. I think I would rather go the dentist and have all my teeth pulled before I would join into your group if this indicative of your members overall mindset. I am not going to engage in a debate on what direction I took with the build and whether if changes the nature of the typhoon. Once the build is done it will be put to the test to make sure it's properly tuned for its new configuration so that it isnt over boosting or on the short road to a fuel detonation. Maybe when it all done and over, I get some fire department permits and i will invite members of your group to watch we soak the whole thing in gasoline and light afire. Then your members could piss on the project for real and for as long as they want..... By the way if you have any say at Syty.net please them to remove that picture of wife and I from the forum. Thanks

Paul, I wanted to ping you privately but could not locate you on face book. Is there a time I could give you a call and a phone number to reach you on? I would like to discuss this situation with you in person in a very friendly and polite manner. A lot of good can come from bad things and it appears you have a very mature approach to things. You may also contact me here at our facility at 703 766 0295 and ask for Tom. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Jeff, Don't judge syty.net totally because of a few bad apples. There are some really good people over there. That site is full of useful information and many members have a wealth of knowledge about these trucks. While I do wish your Ty was in original condition, I am glad to see it back on the road. I sincerely apologize for the inappropriate comments made by members of that site. Sometimes people go a little too far. I hope you change your mind and decide to join someday.

Joe, good morning. Thank you for your post. The cruel and vicious attacks on Bubba have been unwarranted and without justification. Sadly, the very same posts have deeply hurt the owner of the Typhoon as well. In fact I just concluded a phone call about all of this with him. We have not personally read any of the posts on that forum but the owner was sharing some of the comments with us just now. Does anyone REALLY find it funny to create a picture of Bubba with a chainsaw cutting up the Typhoon? Seriously, where is the humor in that? WTF is that all about and how mature is it?! I have refrained from getting into a debate over all of this and tried to take the moral high ground knowing that those who have acted so childish and foolish will indeed get theirs from a higher power. It's call KARMA. And, while you are completely correct that it's only a few who have conducted themselves in such a manner well you know the old saying...birds of a feather flock together. We personally love that you are part of our family Joe and you have NO idea how much time and effort it takes to do these postings between our new TV show getting ready to air, our daily work schedule, touring, and everything else we we are working 18 to 20 hours a day. It's get long and extremely exhausting and when people write hateful garbage like they have been doing then it only makes the days that much longer as there is no way not to take it personally. An apology from the hateful few and removing the very nasty and uncalled for pictures would go a long way in bringing resolution to this. Then, perhaps an invitation for Bubba and I to join you on the forum for a very polite and open discussion about how the decision was made by the owner to pursue the path that was taken and the way Bubba put the assembly together so it would run reliably and meet the customers budget would shed some light and new technical information and build knowledge to those who have slandered Bubba so unjustly. The new knowledge they may learn could be of use to them in their careers or useful down the line some day so they could benefit from it.

Seems Bubba's ability to manage his finances is only overshadowed by his talent for destroying vehicles.

Moral of this whole thread.

You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink. (That goes both towards the owner(s) and Bubba himself)
