when my sy is cold and i make a sharp turn in either direction im getting some pretty bad buckling, that of a big 4X4, but after it warms up it goes away... my truck has also been shifting like crap lately too, even after adjusting the TV cable...

Sounds like its time to change the transfercase fluid!

I concur based on the problem going away after it warms up. Drain it and top it off with 3 pints or 1.5 quarts of ATF.

we went over this a little while ago (I had the same question). conclusion was alot of sy/ty's do this, and it may be the rear diff not unlocking.

actually if its doing this in a tight lock in the front end, it is usually the transfer case. if its excessive generally it means the visous coupling has gone bad due to excessive heat, causing it to warp and not slip anymore.
