C6 Corvette brake upgrade for the Ty

Well my stock brakes are toast, so instead of wasting any money on the the stock setup, I ordered all C6 brake parts with the upgraded Z51 rotor (13.4" x 1.26" and cross drilled) and a set of C5 brackets from Chris at CBR.

Install is happening on Saturday

Why not do the 6piston caliper?

Because it's not worth it unless you're ordering aftermarket. The GM stock Z06 setup is 'meh compared to aftermarket products out there that are really designed for racing instead of cost savings.

I just did a C5 front upgrade using the CBR kit.

One tip I have is that when installing the brake line into the mounting bracket, the C-clip does not retain the hose end tightly. It rattles around.
I used one of the leftover thin shim's with the large hole. Using a grinding stone on the die grinder, I open the hole on the shim enough to slip over the fitting. Then push the fitting into the bracket & install the C-clip. It's nice & tight now.

Billet specialtie makes clips that reatin the line perfect on the a-arm and they lookm rear fancy

I was never even considering the Z06 setup, I was thinking LS1 or C5 before I decided that these look better and should stop a little better than both of those for close to the same money.

Ken, it's not on the A-arm, it's where the braided line meets the factory hard line on the frame.

Although I'm looking for a clamp to mount the line to the A-arm, so I'll check that out.

I have the BS part # at home and for the hard to flex line a small shim or a drop of crazy glue If you dont like shifs

Branden, 17's won't clear the rotors, but you should be able get the calipers to work with a C5 rotors and a C5 caliper brackets.

From what I read the C6 Z51 caliper is the same as the C5 Z06 caliper, just with the newer logo.

Re: C6 Corvette brake upgrade for the Ty

So, did you get them installed,i want to see pics, if this works, ill go this route instead of the LS1 front setup, bigger is always better when it comes to brakes, and im planning 18" later on anyways.

Waiting for an update.

Also can you post all the part numbers for the parts you used.

Thanks

Yeah we got them installed on Saturday, everything went really well and fit perfectly. They feel great but we still need to bleed them again before we really test them.

I don't have the part #'s with me right now I'll post them tomorrow.

I'll post some pics later, gotta run, the chinese food just showed up at the door.
