Looks like they are tightening the limits as well.
I don't know how they can reduce the limits for a car that was not manufactured to meet those limits.

Pretty soon we'll be like bubble boy. But instead of the bubble protecting us from the hazards of the outdoors, it will be to protect the outdoors from us & our generation of CO2 & methane.

I didn't read the whole flippin' thing but it looks like it applies OBD II (2) only. (It's late and I'm tired.) But if so we're OK because we're OBD I (1). Yes? No?

It was in the first part of his post Dave.
"I went to go get a smog check today and I failed. I passed everything but on the idle HC (RPM). The Max is 100."
So the max. HC @ idle is now 100 not 120.

No you are not OK, if you go though the information you will find out that we are in it too.
Now that you have the bad news, If you want to know the next thing that they want to make part of the emission testing is checking the tire pressure and if they find just 1 tire under inflated then you will fail the emission testing. They want to start this phase in Jan of 2010 :rant:.

this state is definitely in the top 3 with the most ridiculous laws. I just don't see how they can regulate a law like this... when you get a smog check is the guy gonna put your truck up on a rack and look under it to check your cat to see if its stock and in the stock location?

They need to pass a law that says you dont have to get a smog check if you put less than 5,000 annual miles on your car. It's just a waste of time and a total hassle for the 'sunday drivers'. But thats not green enough and anyone with a classic car is the anti-christ.:roll:

OBD II or OBD I doesn't matter!! I checked into getting a new cat for my Sy and it was going to cost around 315.00 for a OEM Calif approved Cat plus install.

I hate this state!!

what's to stop someone from buying a cat off ebay and getting it installed by someone with welding skills? There's ways around it.

I remember there was a post a couple years about which counties err cities in CA that don't require a smog check... wasn't one of them up north in like sonoma county? how would this law apply to a situation like that?

plus, is a cat really going to make a difference when i buy an electronic dump valve and bypass the cat as i drive by the DMV, ACLU, and EPA waiving a giant middle finger! I'd love to see them try and catch me in their civic hybrids and prius'!!!
