Re: Cam crunch time

Thanks for the info. I'm going to do exactly that when I run into some more money. Right now things are rough. I want to pay back a member here first before I get anything else. I also really need a better IC. Once I get a nice FMIC and injectors, bigger turbo what do you think I will run with my set up?

High to mid 10s if you have a decent tune and a 67gtq or 72gtq (or equivlant) turbo. Boost may be a limiting factor though as your head gaskets on a stock block will not hold as well as Cometics and a simaese cylinder bowtie block. Having head studs will help.

Re: Cam crunch time

Vortecs arrived today so cam/turbo choice is getting closer. Trans is at the shop as well. Looking at a good used 412 that I'd pair up new followers and 5 angle valve job and a modded 20G as mentioned. Actually talked to Comp and they didn't have anything new. Take your pick. 412, 415, 422.

I think someone around here has a 412 for sale. Harry Anderson I think has one. Search the classifieds maybe. Can't wait to see how your truck runs when its complete. Good luck man.

Re: Cam crunch time

Well build is coming together. Ordered Harry's used cam. Ordered JE pistons & rings, lifters and some minor stuff from Mike @ RPM. Cam, rod & main brngs from machine shop. Block will be .030. Ordered SFI flex plate. Block is line bored and 4 bolt splayed center mains installed. Once I have everything I'll do a photo log AKA Mke TYTILIDIE

This thing may actually run after all instead of just seeing it my dreams... :rotf:

Awesome, what turbo and IC do you plan on running with yourset up? What kind of boost and are you going to run a alky injection or something? I'm glad to see your dream comming true! I'm sure its an awesome feeling. Also get a good tune on that thing when its done! Want to see a dyno vid!

Haven't made final decision on the turbo yet. Looking at modified 20g. Truck already equipped with alky (see sig). Current plans are for me and Mike (mostly Mike ) at RPM to do the tune. There is a 4 wheel dyno in Santa Rosa so that would be fun.

AFA smog is concerned I've moved the registered address of the truck out of the district so smog problems should be g-o-n-e gone.

Don't quote me because I've only talked to him briefly about tuning. Give him a call.

Nice move, I heard modded 20gs can be pretty badass. I'm still also in the turbo market. You wouldn't want a TE45A would you?

Re: Cam crunch time

Any news?

Should have the motor out of the machine shop end of this week. Will be posting up build pics when I start. Small issue with the rods preventing us from balancing the motor. Once that is fixed and the motor is balanced it'll be assembly time.

Thanks for askin'
