What ever happened to the Peter Humblias project... fenders, hoods, cab, tailgates??

Ok. Sounds like the CF hoods are a dud.

Anyone make a stock appearing lightweight hood. Fiberglass perhaps?

I want the truck to remain the way it looked from the factory.

I don't like the cowl induction hoods. They look fine on a tractor puller, but not on a Syclone, IMO.

The CF hood I have isn't all that bad to tell you the truth. The fit is ok, the only gripe I have really (so far) is the front edge of the hood isn't finished, like they should have rolled that edge under. Now when I prep it for paint, I have to worry about using the right material to fill & sand etc.

He got the hood made and never heard back from the guy who made it for him. It's ridiculously light. Like 3-5 lbs.

the hood is going to be light, but when you add the re-inforcements necessary to use the hood latches it adds some wieght. A pin on hood will be like a feather.

U.S. Parts Unlimited makes fiberglass hoods that will bolt on with factory hinges and latch, or use with pins and save a little $$$! For that price would you want at least a 1" rise in it though? Seams like a waist if it will still look boring like a stock S-10 hood. It aint like you can call a Ty or Sy a "sleeper" unless you get rid of the cladding cuz everyone allready knows what's under the hood.

The fiberglass fenders would be a nice touch also. No more rust!

I don't want to change the stock appearance. Why would you call it boring? Must every aspect of the truck be raped? I wan't it to appear as it did off the showroom floor.

I've heard of incredible benefits of decreased underhood temps with a 2" cowl hood. Might want to consider it from that perspective

i was going to go with a ram air type hood. but after carefull consideration and taking a trip to jas' site i decided upon the 2" cowl hood. it looks dam sexy and not too aggressive.
also, keeps engine compartment a lot cooler!!! :D

I've debated the added cooling benefit wth the aftermarket hood, but I would try everything else before having to resort to the hood. My underhood temps are well under control anyway. I would consider an underhood ducting of some sort that would transfer the heat away from the engine compartment. Someone years ago posted a message about this. They somehow routed the air through the cowl.
