My reason for asking about the the two styles is the following. With the cowl induction hood I would like to fab a ram air set up similiar to those used on the '96-'97 Camaro SS

CamaroSS_02.gif

Why would you need ram air if the truck is already forced induction?

I'd like EITHER Cowl Induction OR stock type with VENTING, stock style hood latch.....and how's shipping it to HONOLULU? If me AND V place orders can we get the volume discount for shipping?

My reason for this is. In testing that was done on the 69 Camaro SS & Z-28 with the cowl induction hood or ZL-2 hood. They found that when the complete package was install the cars would gain 15 to 25 hp, do to the temperature reduction & pressure that was created at the base of the windshield, There were some draw back though, when the outside conditions were just right, icing would form around the air cleaner & that why they installed a solenoid that would close off the inlet & make the car run like a normal car unless you floor it.

no i would not be interested in an evo style hood.... mine is a daily driver and gets parked outside.... i really dont want my engine to get washed everytime theres a lil bit of mist.....

also id be more interested in a 2" cowl than a 1"

I can check with the manufacturer and see how he ships hoods overseas.

Typically, when we ship barbells to HI, it's usually via ocean freight if the weight is too heavy and cost prohibitive to ship 2nd day air UPS.

Ocean freight is typically priced on cube over weight. Two or more hoods to HI, could save money if they are on the same bill of lading.

If you look closely at the Evo style hood vent, there is a reverse louver under the wire mesh to keep water from splashing the motor.

Can ya find out ship. cost for 2 hoods and/or 1 hood AND WHERE/HOW it can be shipped to?

i love the 1" cowl hood that myclone has..... any chance that he will make that?

e

IIRC, myclone has a Goodmark steel hood and they have a two inch cowl. I have had a VFN fiberglass two inch cowl induction hood on my truck for over a year now. At highway speed (55 MPH plus), enough air gets drawn down into the cowl that less than half of my wind sheid washer fluid makes it to my glass. The other half ends up on top of my polished aluminum :-? .

What is your zip code that the hoods would ship to? Residential or commericial delivery?

Okay, I've reviewed most of the repsones and aside from the not so serious responses, I've come up with a rough idea of what people want.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In order of interest

2" Cowl Induction
1" Cowl Induction
Venting hood of some style
Evo style
Stock
Not sure

Looks like there might be at least five interested parties to make the 2" CI hood a reality.

My ass. Look at it.
Is there a hood available to us that has a GN-esq. "cowl" to it?

I think that would look Schweet and diff compared to an everyday cowl that my grandma has as well :D

Although the low-profile myclone stylie is gooder too

My Zip is 96825. Dunno if V wants it go to his place or not though?

If it's ocean freight we'd probably have to pick it up at the docks, yes? Otherwise, I can accept a commercial delivery (zip: 96819). I agree with Terry (Lavaman), if it saves money, let's get the hoods shipped to the same zip.

Again,

Any hood design is possible as long as there are at least 5 interested parties. We just need to come to an agreement on a hood style.

I'm not too worried about hood style......but as long as (if its a cowl hood) the rise ain't TOO HIGH! Some sort of venting would be a PLUS!

Hey V, you deliver too?!

On that Second EVO pic... the left side of the hood has a cut-out

http://www.supercars.net/Pics?viewP...=2002&m=Mitsubishi&o=Lancer Evoution VII WRC2

if there was a cut-out like that on the ty hood right above the air-intake on the left side... but smaller. that might be a good intake option instead of the fender-intake on other ty's. i've always thought of it, but you'd have to cut your hood up. if this could be done with the Vented hoods that would be a cool CF hood.

if this was even possible then i'd be interested in a vented CF hood.

I am very familiar with that hood vent you speak of as it is on my Evo 7 RS right hand drive car. You can view the hood vent on my car in this picture:

http://ivanko.com/products/prd_text/EVO_VII_RS_RHD1.html

A little history about the hood on my Evo 7:

The hood is a homologated group A hood where the rules required a special air box that fit directly beneath the hood vent. Group A is no longer around, but at the time the Evo 7 was the current model and was potentially going to be used as a group A car until FIA pulled the plug on group A and required teams to move to a WRC car. Mitsubishi went to the WRC spec car shortly thereafter. The car had to have the homologated hood w/ vent to meet the FIA requirements.

My Evo 7 uses the same stock plastic airbox as the evo 8 and the group A intake vent is blocked off from the factory. Simple removal of a few screws will remove the block off panel. I would like to use the vent, but the air box available for that setup is carbon fiber and costs nearly $600.00. You can see the picture of it here on the right hand side of screen:

http://www.tatomotorsports.com/

Anyway, if everyone agrees on a hood style like this, we would still need to fab the air intake box and air suction kt to fit our application.
