Changed my mind!!

Well guys......it looks like I am going to pass on the 92 Ty I was about to get on Friday. I was talking to Matt W. and Lenny (KETCH-UP) and they made me think about what I was about to get myself into. I needed to use this Ty as a daily driver and these two board members along with the comment that T-bone said in my other post reallly made me change my mind. I already own a 550 horse small block powered 71 Chevelle and a nice clean 72 El Camino as my toys. If I didn't have the Elky and had a newer, less mileage daily driver I would have bought the 92 Ty for another toy to play with.
I would like to say thank you to all that made me feel welcome as a newbie!!!
This is a great board with cool truck owners......I just wish I "could" have been one!!
Keep it real....I'll lurk from time to time.

So now your not getting one at all now? :(

Yeah Adam......the more I talked to Lenny (KETCH-UP) the more it made me think that I don't want another toy that needs to run on high octane and taking time away from me working on my other toy(s). But most of all, taking time away from my family :( !! With the way my job is sometimes, I can't afford to miss my son growing up to be fixing/working on a truck that I need to use everyday!! I wish I could :( .....but my gut says no way

T-Bone: I will pm ya soon.

Re: Changed my mind!!

if you're that concerned about having to work on a maintenance nightmare and high octane, my suggestion would be to buy something new that gets good mileage and has a warranty. takes almost all the headache and worry out of owning the car.

sure it's not fast, sure it's not cool, but it'll save you a lot of pain in suffering in the long run. plus you have something reliable to get to and from work/wherever every day.

Thats the whole problem......I don't like any newer cars!!! I got my wife an 04 Sunfire last year.....I rarely drive it!! I just don't think I wanted to get in over my head on something such as the Typhoon. Granted it only has 45,000 on it, I just didn't want a daily driver headache.

Cobalt.....yeah right...GM's version of a NEON!!!

I drive my Syclone every day for the last 5 years and i ain't never had any problems from driving it daily.
I think Sy/Tys make a perfect daily driver and i wouldn't have anything else as a driver.

Re: Changed my mind!!

When I first got my Ty,I used it as my daily driver for the first 2 years I had it,and the only thing I had to replace was the heater core.

Re: Changed my mind!!

I guess the main reason is that it would cost me a $hit load of cash to drive it to work. At the rate gas prices have been in the past years, running high test (93 oct) at 17 or so miles per gallon round trip to and from work (33 miles) is unreasonable for my wallet. That is why I stopped driving my Elky every day to work. I just hope I don't regret NOT getting this one??? :(

Re: Changed my mind!!

I drive mine 30 miles each way 5 days a week. It's a blast to drive daily but the gas bill for the month is like a small car payment but, it's worth it.

Re: Changed my mind!!

mine's a dd for the last six months with 117k showin and my only real issue is finding tune up parts that are worthwhile. other than that, my only real problem was caused by lack of knowledge of some of the specific parts on these trucks which i think has caused me to oil foul my plugs. but such is my life, i learn things the hard way

Re: Changed my mind!!

I know I have no room to talk as I am waiting on mine to be deliverd "Now it is going to be later in the week" Thanks WILMA! But anyways it is just .20 cent diffrent in the cost of the ol cheapo crap. 5 gallons + $1 diffrence 20 gallons $4. I can't see the big deal on something that you can buy and not every tom dick or harry has sitting at the light. Hell I bought my SSR back in Febuary and would not trade it for the world.

Good Luck to you and I hope you get what your heart desires... Sounds like you had a chance for a very nice typhoon!
