LOL that's funny but honestly it's not worth the money because you won't see much if any increase

Hypertech....LOL

KB......LOL

ATR....LOL

The fact is All of these chips were done in the early days of syty world and at the time had very little information. They basically hacked a few things and changes (speed limit, EGR, maybe a fuel tweak, KB took off the knock retard feature, etc.) But the key word here is hacked.

With the tools available now, and the information we have collected, created to help anybody see that information even a novice tuner with 2 hrs of experience can exceed any of those chips.

You have almost convinced me to call hypertech and let them tell me the same thing, so I can return the persons comment with a "you obviously don't know your ass from a hole in the ground do you?"

ATR pitbull 2bar chip is the safest none OEM 2 bar chip out there.. but again not much increase is anything over stock chip.

It turns the IC pump on at a lower degree something like 60 degrees if I remember correctly.
It raises RPM fuel cutoff and timing while removing some limits like the first boost limit but it's still a 2bar chip which means it can't provide the needed fueling for anything over the stock boost limit which is 14.5psi.

Re: Chip

thread hijack!

So i finally got to my ECU and found a 1996 Hypertech PN 123 612

I immediately took it out and put the stock one in it's place. I haven't taken it out for a test drive yet, but I did start it up and it started and idled fine (it was late, time for bed).

I'm torn b/w the two reburn options. It's 100% stock minus the K&N filter and catback. Should I get the reburn of the hypertech to be for the 3 bar, but just say maximum boost of whatever the stock injectors can hold (minus 0.5-1 psi for factor of safety)? I do not want to mod this thing as I want the motor to last.

FWIW, I am having overboosting problems as well. Can't wait to go home tonight and see if going back to stock chip has fixed that or not.

Re: Chip

Honestly a 3 bar map, syty fuel reg, a walbro 255, and the Ultimate chip would work great for what you want to do! I have had mine in all summer and its great. You can change between 10 settings of timing and boost, has a lock out feature its really amazing and cannot say enough good things about it!! I am like you dont wana mod the shit out of my truck, but these are good mods and for the most part you cant see these mods.... Except the display for the ultimate and even that can be hidden!
