Cladding repair

Re: Cladding repair

I stopped by and took a look at Phil's work. He's doing a great job.

There's no way I would use aircraft stripper on it! Spending the extra time sanding is going to be your best bet.

Sanding it is. Its been slow going on the sanding though. The last repaint was over the origional paint. So I want to sand it down to the raw material.

I've been using 220 grit on my DA sander. Maybe I can find a more coarse sandpaper for it.

I think Joe has a few rolls of 80 and 180 that I left over there. It can become community SyTy sandpaper. I can always get more......

Re: Cladding repair

OK, Thanks Joe.

Hey Phil. I forgot all about you. It was very late when I left work and then I had to go help a friend who was stranded in Rivergate. I remembered to call you at about 11:00 when I was laying in bed. Call me at about 5:30 so I don't forget today. My busy schedule is making me crazy.:screwy:

Re: Cladding repair

Been working on the cladding as I get the free time. It's kind of slow going.

I have not been having very good results with adhesives on the repairs. The plastic welding works well. It took me a little while to learn what it took to get it to bond correctly. It is time consuming.

I don't mind working on it though. Its not to bad work.

I want to see if I am able to repair the driver side rocker that was broke into 7 pieces. I am hoping to do well enough on it. So that the cladding looks like it has never been repaired. But I don't know. We'll see.

The rest of the cladding only has a few minor issues. A few missing tabs and very small cracks.
