cladding wear spots

anybody ever ponder the thought of using trim addhesive or self sticking rubber seal or door edge rubber piping , on the edges of the cladding where it rubs off paint? mine isn't bad yet (repaint) but I can definately see where there could be probs. also if I hit a puddle or something just right it sometimes sprays out the top of the wheel well arches on to the fenders?

I have thought about this several times but don't know what it would look like (if done correctly) or where to get the "right stuff" that could be painted to match (and the paint would actually stay on that is). I did see a Ty some where on a fourm board that had some ass looking ugly welting or screen door rubber looking shit around the cladding but it was so ugly it "would have made a freight train take a dirt road on a rainy day" as my Gandpa used to say.

take a look at this one, in the sale section. it looks like he put a moulding under the cladding. it doesnt look bad at all, on a black truck.

I sent a pm we'll see what happens? I noticed a few japaneese vehicles I own have moldings on there rocker panel "cladding". maybe I can find replacements for those and use on the sy. if I got really good maybe I can start prooducing kits? wonder if any one would have interest, I would think yes but?

3m sells a clear film for stone ships maybe they can cut pieces to prevent rub down

I’ve noticed that the Syclone cladding fits tighter than the Typhoon cladding (especially between the front bumper and the front wheel well). Maybe just the Syclones that I’ve looked at.

The very old cars and some old VWs had a bead material that fit between the finder and the body. Maybe that stuff could be used to fill in the gap.

I've seen clear silicone used, and it looked good.

I'm keeping my eyes open for something. I'm sure I'll try a few things. if I find something that works I can duplicate and try and make inexpensive kits for others to buy.

Toyota uses a good triangular molding on a lot of their cars/trucks. Nissan has it on the frontier as well. I've been eyeing that stuff for the sy
