cold air box

I have been trying to figure out a nice cold air setup for a while this is what i finally came up with for my gtq67,i bought a atr box and modded it,i havent got a filter yet,i tried a stocking and it seems like it may work what do u guys think.

looks good but if you are going to just run a pantyhose why not just use the black elbow and not the chrome pipe?

the elbow dosent stick in the box far enough to get it over,the chrome pipe is were i was going to put the filter on,but then i thought about the stocking thing i know its silly but it might work ,i see people use screen and the stocking has finer holes,

Fabricate a screen to fit over the hole and then put the stocking over that.

do u guys think that the filters they sell at autozone are any good as far as flow goes?u know the cheap ricer ones,or should i just get a k a n?also maybe the screen with the stocking would work also since i dont daily drive the truck.The ricer one they have will fit perfect i think

I used one of the kn knock off ones at pepboys before.. the filter element was red but it worked fine. It's actually now on my wife's pt cruiser and you can hear it sucking air in when under throttle

yeah the one i found is red to and its like 25 bucks i mean i am not afraid to buy the k a n but if its the same then i will buy the cheap one,plus they have them in stock

btw, i tried to buy one of these ATR box off the Ebay guy...doesn't mention anything about paypal. did you have to send a money order/cashiers check?

nice, i bought one off ebay too. I plan to do the same thing but use a cobra head elbow to maybe make the filter straight in the air box....

This is my filter setup:
The filter is 9"L x 5.5"D

And here is how it installs. Before I enclosed the fender, this tucked inside the fender quite nicely.
I plan to cut an opening in the aluminum panel to allow the filter to sit inside the fender again & make a box to go around the filter & isolate it from the engine bay.

Thanks. It has been one of the benefits of where I work. But now they are closing the machine shop & laying everyone off. So no more waterjetted parts.
