Does anyone have a pic of what they did to eliminate the intake cross-over keeping the stock turbo AND A/C?

My current configuration is stock turbo, with A/C, bat moved to bed. Just looking for some ideas that will let me keep an air cleaner of some kind with the new build.

This is a picture of mine. I used 3'? (CHECK SIZE?) spectre brand elbows and 3' silicone straight air duct with air injection fitting stuck inside of it, KN 9' filter. This works with AC! Looks and works nicely!:lol::2cents:

Hey Don, I'm looking at the same issue. I've found that once I replace the radiator-mounted tranny cooler and relocate my battery, I can take the 3" cobra and point it at the passenger side fender. Then, the stock air cleaner box will hook right up to the Cobra (is this what ATR used to do??). A snorkel can then be easily made to ram air into the box by cutting two holes in the front of the inner fender and routing them to beneath/behind the front bumper cover. Easy, Huh ;)
The inlet to the air cleaner box can be modified to any size for air flow needs.

Not for a stock turbo but since you've got the batt. relocated i'm sure u could create a similar setup. Buy a new turbo and i'll give you the same 3' mandrel bend :) You might need to weld a bung for pvc...?

Using 3' cobra elbow with this setup. Do they make a 2 1/2 cobra for the stocker?

IMO, unless you have a race only truck, you do NOT want your air cleaner hanging down to the bumper. In the event you end up driving through a big puddle of water, it could easily take out your motor. I remember when I had mine like that. Drove away from the exhaust shop that bent the pipe for me and no sooner than I pulled out of the lot it starts to down poor. I was lucky and didn't hit any puddles on the way home but none the less, terrible location IMO. :2cents:

X2 At my last job, we had a Scion XB that had one of them intakes, well he went through water, bent connecting rod in cylinder #3, had low compression and a misfire. Needless to say he ended up getting a motor.

truck is primarily for taking up valuable space in garage, costing lots of $$$, ect. But gets the occasional cruise. A big puddle or rain storm, but no lightning, might ruin my day. however, I don't see myself boosting through a storm anytime soon, sy isn't a DD.

This is one option of few IMO. Everything I've seen, so far, isn't a true CAI or restricts flow. Seems decent for those that want a DIY simple, cheap, effective, and LOUD as F**K when :turbo: Not so good for an area where the weather man is never right.

cost was $12. A local speed quoted $380 to do a custom job...and in the end wouldn't have been much different. Hovers 9inches from the ground, shielded behind bumper and wheel well covers from debris....stock height and wheels you;ll have another 1-2 inches.

with my battery gone, i run a 4" Cobra pointed towards the fender, and a 4" exhaust elbow pointed down, to a K&N cone where the batt was. all inside engine bay, and away from water. plus if you REALLY want cold air, you can pull the headlight, and its a direct path.

Here is my setup. There isn't much of a box on the fender side so the filter just extends into the fender well a little.

I have a 3.00 piece of plastic hose from the local woodworking store its a plastic 90 degree elbow work perfect had to drill a hole for the PVC hose

How do you get the orange elbow past the transmission cooler lines, the AC lines and the heater core hose? I was looking last night, and i couldnt see how the elbow would fit through there.

Edit: Kens picture helps. Go above the trans cooler lines with an elbow. I'll try that.

Took some closer pictures that kinda show the routing around the lines. Basicly it squeezes right in the middle with a little bending.

I am running pretty much the same setup now that I was when I had the stock turbo. The only difference is that I am using a 3" cobra elbow in place of the stock orange one:
