couple decent runs tonight out in irwindale

just changed fuel filter, plugs, cap, and rotor to see if this would reduce knock, which has been outta control lately. after tossing in some 101 oct, knock is pretty much non existant. so a last minute decision lands me and a friend in irwindale. first run i scored a new best 60', a 1.70 and cruised to a nice 8.43@78mph. my previous best 1/8th time was 8.39@80 and that was running 17psi... i made this pass with only 11psi. 2nd run wasnt as good 1.76 60' and a 8.45@78mph, 3rd run was the worst with a 1.82 60' and an 8.50@79mph

i wouldve liked to get a couple more runs in but they took my racing wristband away after the 3rd run, cause i didnt have a helmet. i tried arguing with them cause the tech guy said anything lower than an 8.5 and you need a helmet, and the last run was an 8.5... but they werent having it, the lady that hands out the time slips is a fuckin bitch to say the least... shes screamin at me "dont argue with me!!! ive seen you here before i know this truck, and i remember your license plate! you were here last month and i had to tell you to get a helmet then too!!!" haha i think she was coked out or something. cause i havent been to this track in over 6months. aside from her, this is one of my favorite tracks. always a good launch pad, and fast cars. tonights fastest was a vega running 5.53@129mph

hopefully with a lil tuning and upping the boost i should see 12's in fontana.

in closing i'd like to thank Mike Lee for hookin me up with the ITS minigate, this thing fucking rocks!

just thought I'd post this for a comparison, this is the closest run I have to those 1/8 times/mph.

Looks like you should be in the 13.3-13.4 range.

You'll need to net an ~8.20@82+mph to se a 12.99.

Good luck man, keep it going.

Life is beter at 25 PSI
Nice runs. Real consistant.

 What's with the reaction time on that slip? Building boost?

Drop me a line when you head out to the track...I'd like to see how the 100k Typhoon does now that it's broken in

well i figure if i bump up the boost to maybe 16 or 17psi that will help. i dunno if itll knock 2 tenths off my time, but i guess ill find out. thanks for the support! :)

just my opinion here... if youre not bracket racing, then who cares about reaction time? why go up there in a rush trying to get a good reaction, and risk getting a shitty launch and a poor ET? hell i say take 10 seconds if ya need it! hahaha i couldve had a 5 second reaction time and still beat this guy that was running his moms mini van out there. the race is against the clock, not the guy in the 6 second nova, or the 15 second mini van.

Doug! ill be headin out to fontana on the 14th for sure. let me know if you can go, if not we'll set up a day for irwindale. btw hows brians typhoon lookin? back together yet?

I can't make it on the 14th....but I'd be up for a run to Irwindale some Thursday evening, or Saturday/Sunday morning.

Brian's Typhoon is back together, then apart, then back together. He's working on little stuff, but he's been driving it.

converter stalls too low, gotta make up for it with boost, and it takes a long time to build. Makes me angry.. especially considering its the stock turbo.

when you guys plan another outting to irwindale, let me know too. i'm game for fontana as well.

i went there in early april for the first time and i think that place rocks! i met adam k. (typhool7) and hector ?(ty_owner) there. the best i turned was an 8.41 @ (can't rem). i think that time slip chick is kinda sketchy too.

i like how they route the pit return lane in front of the grandstands, where all the people watch you cruize by them slowly. i got some thumbs-up and claps with an occasional yelp from some dudes along the gate......cool feeling. also, theres something about night racing i really like.

i too got an ITS gate from mike. its mounted on a spare crossover waiting to bolt up.....just gotta do it. real boost control is in my near future....can't wait.
