Couple questions on throttle body stuff

1. how do i adjust my throttle linkage? i have to put all my weight on the petal to get 99% throttle

2. what should my tps sensor volts be at wot, im geting like 4.05v

3. what does the third part of the linkage to the throttle body control? I know there is the linkage that goes to the pedal, and to the transmission. but the linkage that goes over by the abs controler is confusing me. i dont see what its for. my best guess is for cruise control...

thanks for all the help in advance.

1 - How are you measuring this? Are you simply looking at a scantool and seeing the percentage? Have you verified actual linkage rotation with pedal movement? Some TPS sensors act funny and you may need to address that. If all seems well electronically........Could the cable be stretched? Have you inspected the end @ the throttle body or @ the pedal? It shouldn't be that hard to get full travel out of the linkage.

2 - Been touched on a few times. TPS percentage really matters most. I've seen trucks with voltage ranging from 3.9-4.5 volts @ WOT, but still show 100% TPS. With 4.05v I really wouldn't worry. Might try fixing #1 and seeing if the voltage @ WOT fixes itself after that.

3 - Looking at the throttle body cable bracket from the driver side.....the cruise control cable is the top left one.....the accelerator cable is next to it (top right)......and the TV cable is the lower one. Basically, the cruise and accelerator cables pull the linkage open. The TV cable is pulled when the linkage rotates.

Got Boost?
Old old memory, but make sure the carpet isn't in the way of the gas pedal. I had to bend mine out a bit a long long time ago...

im looking at a scantool for the throttle percentage. in the car i have to really stand on the gas to get 99% throttle. no matter what i do i cant get 100% throttle, should i be able to get this? even when i pull the throttle body open by hand under the hood i just get 99%, and this is on a 2 month old tps sensor. maybe moving the carpet a little bit out of the way might help me.

If your doing it by hand - I'd say moving the carpet won't help at all.

Kinda interesting that you aren't getting 100% by hand. When you replaced the TPS - did you ever get 100%?

If you can't get 100% @ the throttle body then something is definitely wrong. Try this.....look at the TPS and see where it's rotating tab touches the throttle body's. Take a screwdriver and push the TPS open by itself. See if you get 100% on the scantool here. You can do this with the TPS off the throttle body, but this way is one less step. If no, I suspect a bad sensor. If so, you may see if it is adjustable (a lot of them are......slotted for adjustment) and adjust the sensor for an easier 100% reading.

Other things could come into play, like the floor mat, bent linkage, stretched cable, etc....but this will help you narrow down the suspect.

not that this is related but what the *@#$ would cause this. i got my car back from the stereo shop and it felt hella strong on the stock chip. so i put back in the ultimate and 3 bar and it ran like crap. put back in the stock chip and map sensor and nothing. with practicaly just removing the memcal and putting it back in my truck is completely changed. i cant figure the damn thing out. one minute it feels "right" and then it feels like my damn 4-cyl s-10. any damn reason why this would happen??? :bad-word: :2gunfire:

alright here is my update. even rotating the tps sensor manualy i only get a 99% throttle reading. this is off of auto-xray by the way. and also i can get to about 90% inside the truck without having to push real hard. is there anyway to take up a little bit of the slack in the throttle cable??
