couple quick tranny questions

These trucks are cursed
first, help me settle an arguement.... is the stock torque converter a high stall? this guy i work with is trying to tell me that the stock TC locks up at 1600??? he's also trying to tell me that if i rebuild my 700R4 with 9/11 and a 2800 TC, block my 1-2 acuator, and install a corvette servo, that "it will blow up my shitty lil 8 bolt S-10 rear end" then again he also claims to have a 10 sec falcon on the bottle that will "cook my lil S-10 with one push of a button".

ive been readin these boards for awhile now, and ive never read anything about someone breaking a rear end.

secondly can anyone in the so cal area recommend a tranny guy? mike? doug? brian? sean? not 100% sure if its going but my truck seems hesitant off the line, and has been shifting really really soft. i also did a mild launch today, and the engine revved up like normal, but my sy felt like it was just sitting still. it was like a full launch but the truck moved at half speed.

any suggestions?

I wouldn't call the stock converter a high stall by any means.
Corvette servo is a downgrade for us.
Blocking the 1-2 actuator will give a harder hitting 2nd gear.
Lot's-o-peep's running the stock rear end w/9-11's converters without any problems.

Rebuild that bad boy yourself and save some money. That way you know exactly what was done to it. Unless you know the tranny guy himself he will most likely not want to put aftermarket stuff in it or he wont warranty it. There is also stuff that needs to be drilled out to help flow and some other mods that is recomended by ATSG. Rebuilding them isn't that hard they are just very tedious and very sensitive.

The stock convertor locks up at or arround 2300 - 2400 from what I remember, correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Blocking the 1-2 actuator is a mod that will take the drivabilty out of your truck and can cause issues with the band as well as hard parts. If you choose to do this have the tranny guy put a kevlar band in and make sure all hard part's are perfect.
A corvette servo is very similar if not the same as ours is. The measurement of the piston is about the same. Not a whole lot of a difference. If you wanted something that would be better get a Superior Super Servo. Word of caution though, I had the complete servo assembly on my truck and I lost 4th because it was a poor desigh for the 4th piston. The servo assembly controlls both 2gear and 4th. My 4th piston crapped out and got lodged on the shaft and resulted in no 4th. I put the stock complete servo back in and it's fine now! Good luck! The best builder in SoCal is you! because you know what will go back in and you can set all clearances your-self and make sure it is right the first time.
