Stock tires, gears, you should be going about 90mph @ 3000 rpms.

At 60mph in overdrive, you should be a hair under 2,000rpm with the converter locked. But if you have it in Drive, 3000rpm is probably about right. Shift kit huh? Yeah, get rid of that crap.

well the prob is when they installed the shift kit they probably drilled holes in your seperator plate...so you'd be needing a new one of those (which if i remember aren't the easiest to come by)

hard shifts tend to break parts.

The 700R4 is weak enough without adding the banging between gears.
take it easy on that 1-2 shift or you'll be building a new trans.

If you talking about a hard 1-2 shift these truck shift hard from the factory. If someone told you they put in a shift kit they usually end up degreading the transmissions performance.

3000rpm at 60 tell me OD isn't working, it could also be the Torque converter isn't locking up as well and or a non lock up high stall TC.

ok, trying to get it to shift into OD from DRive at anywheres between 55-70, 55-60, etc yielded nothing. felt exactly the same. it shifts hard from 1st -2nd at about 2200 RPM and basically feels like it kicks you. the owner i got it from did not install it, he was going by what the original owner told him. i dont know if it does or doesnt.i could call the kid see if he ever had an a p[roblem with OD. i'm gonna look around under the trans first see if anything looks loose or missing or anything. what does anybody think about power purging it like at an Aamco or putting a little Marvel's mystery oil in it or a little Seaform.

took it to a tranny shop today. the tech said he did have it go into OD at about 70 mph, came in very late. he adjusted the cable, said it came in earlier, like in the 50s but only off the gas and if was on the gas it would kick back to 3rd. so now what

changed the trans fluid and filter last night. bottle of lucus in replacing one bottle of tranny fluid. take it out, I'm able to get it in OD at around 60 if i get off the gas it will shift in. Or, if im on the gas it shifts around 70 or just above on its own. sounds like it just needs adjustment

Re: cruising in Syclone what should i be taching>?

Their is an issue using a with using a shift kit with Corvette VB that have he WOT 3-4 shift (I think SytY have the same issue) The 3-4 accumulator spring is too stiff in the shift kit and you need to use the original spring. I had to do this in my corvette when I added my transgo shift kit or I couldn't get OD until really high like you are describing.

BTW their is one correct adjustment for the TV cable on your tranmission, if he lossening it up, he is lowering the oil pressure in the tranny and your going to burn out the clutches in the transmission.

Re: cruising in Syclone what should i be taching>?

well i guess thats not gonna be any help, i dont have any original parts and am the 3rd owner, 1st did the kit if it has one. I did not pull down the valve body. gonna call the 2nd owner up see what his experience was with it. very little adjustment was made at the front to see if it was an adjustment issue. all i can say is before i had none, now at least i can get it in OD if i need to or wanted to. maybe i'l search to have it rebuilt to factory specs in the future if i want to

You just buy a new spring from GM. It probably less than $10.
