Anyone ever been there done that. Or any starter for that matter? No clue where to start. Couldn't find any previous post on the topic. What about the heat shield Jegs sells for a v6 90deg for 19.95 is it worth it or a pain in the azz. TIA

heat shields are nice. start off, by disconnecting your battery. wrenches like to touch the frame when you do a starter.

Yeah, i just put one on my brother's truck. We didnt use any of the shims or anything and didnt reclock it. We removed the front of the propshaft and let it just hang there. Next we disconnected the tab that anchors the tranny lines to the flexplate cover. Then used I think a T47 or T48 torx (i can't remember) bit to losen the 4 bolts holding on the flexplate cover. Dropped that out of the way and removed the two bolts holding on the starter. Then disconnected the two wires and installed the cvr starter. THat's it....Pretty easy.
