Datamaster run... Is ty engine shot?

My luck with this Ty continues...

Well... after re-doing the starter with a remote solenoid and stuff I took the Ty for a run with datamaster... I'm afraid something went bad after my second run. Maybe something internal is broken. During the 2nd run the Ty would just idle real bad and wouldn't get any boost at all. Now it makes a loud dududududdu sound at idle or when gas is applied.

On the second run when driving w/ no boost it hit 7* shortly thereafter the Ty would run like crap. Did I break something? :banghead:
Also its giving me code 35.

code 35 is idle speed error, could be caused by vacuum leak or to rich or to lean although your not too lean intake air temps are really high 160 deg. I would check for vacuum leaks, hard to tell what dudududu sounds like

thanks for the response... any ideas which lines to check first?

yea my IC pump for some reason is not circulating the water. it's on, its making noise, but the water is not flowing. only 3 years old too.

just scares me cuz it almost sounds like the same time i bent a rod.

thanks, MikeC

If you have original vacuum lines and over 50K miles, I would replace all of them. Vacuum lines really should be one of the first preventative maintenace items, they are cheap but wrong combination of bad boost control lines can be so destructive (and they are usually the first to go because of the heat of the turbo)

IMO the only vacuum lines I would leave untouch are on under 20K mile trucks.

yea I'm going to kick myself if it's because of the vac lines...
I have a brand new set waiting to be installed, and that was my next project.

Which vac lines should i pay special attention to?
I guess the only way to tell if I have a bent rod is to bring it into a shop?

thank everyone,
MikeC

btw, this is a McCoy motor which hardly has any miles... ugh.

You could try to use a stethoscope to locate to noise, it didn't look like you were really on it in your second run?

yea I wasn't on it on the second run. But that is when the weird noise came. You can see a lot more knock also even when there is no boost. not sure what to do now... bring it in a shop to check?

the noise sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the motor.

Well you need to find out what that noise is, you might try to get in touch with Roland(I think he has heard every bad noise that can come from a motor) he lives close to you. :dunno:
