Denver, Co Transmission shop recommendation

I am looking for a transmission shop recommendation in Denver. I need to decide if i am going to remove the trans and TC and ship to George Blake or take it somewhere here and have it done.

Everything in the Typhoon is stock and it's a daily driver.
Is there anything special about the TC or can it just be replaced by a rebuilt one?

Brian Hartman. AuSyTyin can get you in touch with him. He's an OG SyTy Transmission guru. If he's too busy, I'm sure he can point you somewhere else

Hartman is the man when it comes to tranny's. He is uber swamped, and I'm not sure if he is accepting work. He isn't cheap though. If you are looking for a stock rebuild, look elsewhere.

I also have a freshly rebuilt syclone 700r4 that I have that I will not be using. I payed 1200 for it. It has a deep aluminum sump as well. I even have a good stock converter and even a good 2800 stall converter... Let me know if you need it...

Thanks

Remove it and send it to Blake and stay away from the local 700r4 gurus! Do the job right the first time and save yourself ALOT of headaches go with what works and has been proven time and time again....call George!:D:tup:

Also if you have not done so already add a larger tranny cooler aswell before you re install the new 700r4 it will save you some $$$ in the long run!

Re: Denver, Co Transmission shop recommendation

If you MUST go local and the above deal doesn't work for you go to TTS in boulder...tell Doug I sent you and he'll know what you want for your TY! I used him for my old Ty and ran tons of low twelves and also held up to street racing every friday night. I also think this is the company used to rebuild the unit five to drive is offering(confirm with him).

Kolene steel kit, all Alto red friction, wide 2-4 band, HD sunshell "beast"....all for 1300.00 out the door and they have awesome no BS warranty service un like most local trans shops.

Wow thats a damn fair price for all that. Not bad at all. Cheapest I could find when I started building my own was $2000 and that was if I bring it in and a stock build.

Yeah...it's not bad at all!!! I can scan you my build sheet that he prints out for each build, but I know you'll never go the 700r4 route again if (and when...lol) yours go's south. He also updated my planetary assembly and did a full rebuild/reseal on the transfer case for $250.........I walked out $1650 lighter, but was as bullet proof as I could get for a 700 here in the Colorado area!!!! He also re-did/updated my governor for the larger power band that the kb cam offered for cheap!

I have two 700r4 tranny's... One is the one out of Crispy... It was built by TTS in Boulder and is just like Ry's it has very very few miles... I also have a transmission built by Aaron in Wyoming. It was originally the 700r4 out of the bully syclone and was just 100% rebuilt...

I'm obviously going to have to disagree with this statement. I'd pay 5 times more to get a HHP trans that a Blake unit.

Although that Boulder place does seem like a decent build for what he is doing with his truck.

What are the differances between the two builds that would make their 700's better than one another......list them please?;) Wow....five times more!!!:rotf:

Re: Denver, Co Transmission shop recommendation

I do not think Blake is selling transmissions anymore.
Regardless.......there are no major ground braking differances between either build...it's still just another glass 700r at the end of the day when the smoke and mirrors are removed!!!:lol:

Tranny builders are similar to cooks, artist, etc. Each persons particular recipe is the best, everybody elses isn't as good.

Its all personal taste and who is there to support you should you need it.

There is also something in tranny fluid that seems to make these guys a bit unique and special.

Trade secrets that I don't even know. Trust me, there is a deeper story to the Tranny Guys on here than most people know.

There are parts that have been engineered specifically by tranny builders that other builders don't have access to. Not all 700R4 builders are the same.
