YES, there is a difference. 92 uses rear wheel sensors. 93 uses an input from the sensor on the T-case rear output housing.
The 93 system is the one most people don't like the 'action' of.
The harness can be changed. You need to run a wire for the rear speed input from the DRAC to the 10-pin. I'm pretty sure the 92DRAC will work. I know the 91 will not. Ie, you may have to swap the DRAC to a 93-up, and calibrate it to the old DRAC's jumper settings. The pin-outs and wiring diagrams are in the full-coverage Helms manuals. Not in the SyTy supplement.
