Re: Distributerless Ignition possiblity.. (working on it)

Just in case anyone else wanted to do some reading. Z ski got me thinking last night and I looked up EFI

"Our crankshaft reluctors will require the use of the late SBC/BBC balancer "

COULD IT REALLY HAVE BEEN SO SIMPLE???

Its not that simple
PM or email me your number

Re: Distributerless Ignition possiblity.. (working on it)

I'm going to install the Holley Dominator in the wife's Typhoon... We also have a 4L60E in it so the
Holley will control all the transmission shifting as well.
I plan on using the 58X wheel behind the timing cover and taking .100 off the ballancer end to set the depth correctly to line back up with pulleys.
www.eficonnection.com offers the parts needed for this. Also will use their Fake dizzy that puts out a 1x signal so I can run sequential..
Going to use the Holley Smart coils on each cyl.
Post pictures and more info when done!

Will the holley accept a 58x pulse signal and run a 6 cylinder?
That is one of the major issues with using a factory PCM

I'm running this setup, EFI connection 58x crank with 1x cam signal beind their billet cover.. The Smart dudes at Holley said it should work well... We'll see I guess??

See ya,

Re: Distributerless Ignition possiblity.. (working on it)

Yes...It will work with either the waste spark setup as you have above and the 58x with 1x cam signal
or you can run the Smart Coils... or LS1 Truck Coils....
When you enter the engine info it knows what to do with the 58x signal....

Super cool stuff!

I have a Buick GN engine down in a Mustang running the waste spark setup on stock 3x signal and 1x cam signal...

This interests me. What is the electrical modifications to need if doing this? And about coils, how about outboard motor coils, there might be tons of coils in outboard scrap yard? How this gonna work with stock ecm? I have turbotweak chip, would it work with it?

We have this all worked out along with our plug n play ecu solution. I will post pics this weekend

Do you really want to be using used outboard motor coils that have been in a harsh environment?

Yes i do. :D my argument is, that most outboards have very close housing, and what I have seen when working with them, components are mostly very goog shape and non corroded. Especially here in finland may outboar motor enivroment be even more gently than its for cars, due to hard winter condition with salty road, etc. vs. non salty lakes and low salty baltic sea. Plus the outboard motor components are made to last in harsh enivroments.

That 3.1 v6 coils and module thing would be good option if it's possible to get work with syty ecm, I may have some idea for crank trigger... but it seems that this topic is buried as hoffa ... :p
