I don't know what problem you're having with the stock Plastic/Al, they seem to work just fine for me in my other trucks.

I'll look into a be cool as well....no real problems from the plastic other than once when I cracked the plastic overflow nipple....I'm replacing my radiator anyway so I'll try for steel end tanks if they can be had....also it seems like metal (brass) endtanks would lend themselves for easier rodding out if that was to ever come up in the future....

ok, I found some online specs on modine radiators.....I decided to do the corvette radiator because the core is almost identical dimensions as the shroud of the volvo fan that I bought....also, the corvette radiator supposedly has a better tube and fin design..there's not an open grill on the vette, so they had to design the radiator to cool better, considering....the driver's side inlet isn't angled like the syty though...the corvette radiator is narrower than the 4.3 rad...same width as the 2.8 v6 radiator....

Here's the specs on all three starting with the syty radiator(1R2049), the 84-89 corvette(1R2051), then the 90 camaro(1R951).....the camaro radiator was the same on the v6, 305, or 350....I don't think the camaro should be an option for us, but someone asked about it above....
