Right after I got my truck 2+ years ago, the tranny went out. It was rebuilt under warranty and performed the same as before, just better. 5K miles later I had a decently built motor from Diablo perf. put in at the dealership. Those assholes misaligned my torque converter/flexplate and the engine when installing it and 400 miles later my trans blew as a result of the stress. Taking no chances, I got a crate GM trans and had an excellent shop upgrade the shift packs and smooth out the linkage, etc. Thing is, both of the old transmissions would stay "locked up" with the motor while coasting no matter if it was in D or OD. The new one(though flawless and strong)disengages the motor when you lift, but only in OD, though it'll coast no matter what gear/speed. It does, though, stay engaged in all gears/speeds when in D. What gives? I miss my engine braking and want to know what to change to get it back. I checked and re-checked the part # and it's right. My mechanic thinks that GM might have changed a setting/part in new trannys. How about yours? What's it do? Thanks.
