I was boared last night at work so I ran a Carfax on my truck. We'll, I get it back and right at the top was soemthing I was not expecting.

SALVAGE TITLE!!!!

:x :x :x :x :x :x

We'll, that ruined my day (insert "sick to my stomach" here). Turns out that the truck was issued a salvage title in Mission, Ks. Title #ld367097. Wow, that just sucks!! I guess the guy I bought the truck from was not being totaly dishonest, he did say that the truck did not have a Minnesota Salvage Title. I kind of wish I would have run the report before I picked up the truck (yup, me dumbass!), might of swayed my decision a little.

So, I get home after work and spend three hours going over the entire truck looking for any sighns of frame damage or sever body damage and just don't see anything. Sooo, either the report is wrong (doubt it) or whoever fixed the truck did a fairly decent job of putting it back together again (that is a good thing I guess).

Has anyone ever had a carfax report be wrong? Everything else on there appears to be correct. Apparently it was issued on 03-03-1994, the truck had 29,939 miles on it. Who ever wrecked it must not have had it for very long because on 10-19-1993 it was titled to a dealership on O'Fallon, Il. with 28,101 miles on it.

Is there a remote chance here anyone knows anything about this typhoon?
The vin is:

Just curious. It is probably a streach but I would like to find out more about the wreck (when, where and how) if possible.

S#it happens I guess!!

It could have just been stripped to get that salvage title.

I think erue's/sigo's old Ty was totalled by the ins company after a minor wreck, and it turned out to be an easy fix.
If it was me,I wouldn't really worry about it,as long as the truck isn't driving down the road sideways...........

Some states have weird laws about salvage titles.

If it was ever stolen its possible they issued it a salvage title.

I would research the laws in KS and see what conditions a salvage title would be issued.

I did a carfax on mine before I bought it and found that it was issued a salvage title a few years ago after it was stolen. I assume it was stripped down and totalled by the insurance company. I liked the truck enough to buy it anyway once I drove it and found no signs of damage. I did use that report to get the price down a few grand though. When it comes to resale, hopefully you can find someone that doesn't care what the titles says, (or doesn't do a carfax) and goes by the condition of you truck when they negotiate the price.
The more these trucks get wrecked, stolen, rebuilt etc. the more of them there will be with salvage titles.
But look on the bright side, now you have no to reason to ever sell your Ty :D

if you sell the car 2x it becomes non-salvage, or something like that, there are ways to bring it back!

I got the same feeling when I ran a carfax on my 00 Z28.
A buddie of mine was goofing around looking up vin numbers when he put mine in, and it came back it was in a major front end reck, I almost shat myself, needless to say I was on the phone with the dealer the next morning, and here 2 years and 5 months later I'm still waiting on a court date

Brian:

I ran your VIN using AUTOCHECK, and it came up clean. No salvage title at that mileage. It was sold at an auto auction in 8/92 listed as a "fleet sale", but other than that, it's fine.
