Driver side water leak in footwell... different problem!

This is different from the leaves clogging up the channel...

When the truck was painted, it looks like there was some kind of patch panel installed. It was kind of a shitty job to say the least.

Does anyone know if the area is a double skin? It leaks into the cab despite me trying to seal it with some nasty urethane goop.

Here is the driver's footwell.

Do I need to cut out the offending area and then patch in two panels or is it a single skin and something else is up?

So I cut out the part where the leak was coming from and found two skin layers. The water was obviously building up. I didn't have time to fix it properly so did a proper shitty job just to make the interior not leak. I need to cut out the panel and weld it properly I guess. :tdown:

wow, somebody sure back yarded that repair. Maybe a wheel weight came off or a rock was thrown there. But some poor repair work either way.

The wheel well was intact from what I recall - it was behind that but the rust patch went through the firewall and encroached on the interior skin.

Looks like my welder will get some use this summer! I'll need to cut out panels on both skins and weld them in. I will practice on some mock ups first as well. I hope this has solved the leak for the time being. I only had a couple of hours to investigate so summer will afford me a better opportunity.

Seems like I'm never going to finish this thing :roll:

Anyone done patch repairs like this before?

i would let somebody do that work, if you arent really good at welding, u should take it to a body rebuild shop.
Should cost you that much
