So after 12 years i took my syclone vin 00045 to the track. running 14 psi with 92 degree temps i ran a 14.3. I have a b&M 2400 stall converter and all the B&M tranny guts.
Anyway when I launched thru 1st gear there was this clanging sound which I thought might have been either shaft hitting my safety loops i got from phil. It went away after it shifted into 2nd. Next run I tried the other lane and turned off the tcc switch (torguq converter clutch). Same thing but a bit less of the clanging. Truck ran 2/10ths slower which i expected to see.
today i looked at the shafts and loops (from phil chivers) no rub marks on anything.
NOt sure if it was wheel hop making the exaust bang, but the cat and straight pipe are not loose. Tranny mount is good and new. I dont experience any vibration or noise on the street. Motor mounts I dont know but i kinda doubt it (didnt inspect them) but i would think i should see something. All the body and suspension bushing a fairly new 1 year or less poly urethane. I didnt try launching like driving on the street, but i locked the brakes and set the tach on 2200, left side lifted like it should after the lights came down and i was off. Only thing i can think of is wheel hop but i reallt dont have a clue what else to look for of if this is wheel hop (have somepeople watch the wheels for me) and if so or not what the heck to do about it? any help or ideas what else i can look for I would appreciate!
thanks

just had one of my employees launch in front of the shop on the street, he didnt torgue it up as much as i did at the track but i did hear the same noise when it shifted into 2nd , which i also heard at the track. truck seemed to go a bit lower inthe rear than i ever saw whenever i let anyone else drive it. COuld the spring(s) be banging?
The ujoints didnt show any play in them....

holy shit
I just torqued it up with the hood open and it looks like it lifts 2-3 inches.
Why it sounds like its commin from the ass end beats me. but anyway a strap till the mounts get done. Just one more reason to do the motor after 97 k i guess. ya know while im at it......:)

Yeah I had the same thing with my Sy
straping down the motor fixed it

the noise on my truck was coming from the rear drive shaft,

right before it connects to the transmission/Transfer case it goes over
a crossmember (where the torsion bar support is)
because the motor was raising up front
the tail end was diping down
causing the drive shaft to make contact with that crossmember.

i had a motor mount go in my 88 s-10 blazer and there was no way in hell i was changing it so i took a piece of chain bolted one side to one of the exhaust manifold bolts left about 3/4 inch play in it and bolted it to the front shock tower mount i cant remember if i made a hole in the mount or if it was there already but that chain has been on my motor for about 10 years now and it works great ill have to look to see if i made that hole in there for the side that bolts to the shock mount im thinking about doin the same to the sy for now and when i decide to pull the motor out for some major mods i think im putting in steel mounts has anybody used the steel mounts i want to figure out haw much vibration it puts out or who makes them i found some for my 88 gta i wonder if they are the same

I just put a highland ratchet tie down strap from the motor lifting lug to a hole on the underside of the frame just in front of the drivers side front upper control arm mount. Didnt want to use the hole in the control arm mount cuz its welded to the frame and I thought it might affect alignment or worse yet break a weld. Wonder if this is safe to run at the trrack while i do a few tuning mods before the motor comes out in the fall?
