Dutchty lower CAC Group Purchase - Fall 2011

It's time to start another thread for Dutchty lower CAC GP, so here goes.

I talked with Dutchty briefly about this and rules are the same, we'll need ten buyers before this happens. According to him, price will most likely be close to what it has been before, around $300 + shipping and related costs. Looking at the previous GP, the actual price with shipping was between $327 and $354 so that'll probably give all prospective buyers a ballpark figure.

8. tx1 zip 77566
9. green73 zip 93560
10. double12 zip 43064

To make it all simpler, quote the complete list and add your name to it when replying so we'll have an up to date list of buyers at the end of this thread. I'll try to edit this message later on to have all buyers' names included but that'll depend on how much spare time I have in my hands to actively follow this thread during following weeks. :)

Being a new Syclone owner and member can someone give a quick rundown on the benefits of this upgrade? Would you recommend this for ALL Syclone owners? Are other upgrades necessary to take full advantage of this one? My truck is mostly stock now but I want to begin the upgrades process. TIA.

More coolant capacity, lowers intake temps. Can be used with a stock pump. My 120k mile trucks stock metal lines and lower heat exchanger were all crudded up.

Static's short description of benefits sums it up nicely.

For those who aren't familiar with this upgrade, here's some background: Back in the old days a fairly popular mod was a somewhat similar unit made by Griffin, which was a good alternative to doubling up the cooling with an ATR (Hayden 1241, if memory serves) secondary cooler. A larger core improves the cooling capacity and while it works with a stock circulation pump, upgrading to a higher capacity pump like Jabsco or Johnson (if you want to go extreme, Davies Craig) improves the effectiveness even further.

Installation requires some cutting of the lower CAC frame/bracket, nothing major and definitely nothing that can't be done easily with regular hand tools.

Personally I'll be taking the Dutchty + Hayden + Davies Craig -route, the key component being the Dutchty lower CAC. A substantial increase in IC coolant volume, especially in a component that contributes to keeping it as cool as possible, is a good thing. There are other proven ways to cool the charge air effectively, but I prefer a "stealth" approach to upgrades, as well as keeping everything reversible if the collector value of these trucks goes through the roof someday.

IMO this mod is among the best ones for a street-driven SyTy. It fixes an obvious, well-known flaw in original GM design, it's very stealthy especially if you paint the CAC black and the price isn't unreasonable. I've missed a couple of earlier GP:s on this and I started this thread to make sure I won't miss the next one. ;)

Not forgotten at all, I updated the list a couple of minutes ago. So far we have four buyers out of ten. GP lists with a minimum order quantity usually take a while to complete, slow and steady. ;)

Re: Dutchty lower CAC Group Purchase - Fall 2011

Got some few days off now , so I thought I would gime in on this LOWER CAC GP.
Since I'm always to bussy with al kinds of things, as GP's before about the lower CAC radiator , this time our forum member hq_ started the thread instead of me since he really want one.

All he mentioned is correct. cost will all be in the same region as previous GP'S
cost including shipping? all depands on where you guys are.
So when you guys sign in for the lower CAC, also leave your ZIP so I can ask my shipping agent about the costs of shipping and handling and I will qoute the total cost :2cents:to you.

Some added info on the lower CAC latest version is that I don't have the waterlevel sensor hole any more since 99% didn't used it anyway.
Its still possible to get it added to or any other special demands if I can alter it.

Also was thinking about a monster W/A radiator down there but didn't had the t ime to drawit out.
About dimensions I had in mind was 26"x 10"x 4" which could be placed in the stock location, either with water lines or Air to air hose ends.

But I'm not in a hurry but can imagine, some are. to have a little peak.
