I see me questions have been conveniently avoided in lieu of personal attacks against me.

Read the last sentence in my post.....seems awfully fishy that you have an issue now unlike 3 or 4 (or more) years ago when there were tons of ppl that were faster than what nhra "officially" allows for their ET.

There are tons of ppl that run at tracks across the US that are NHRA/IHRA tracks who are faster than their tech'ed for and a portion of those ppl have high dollar/rare cars that they wont cut up to put a cage in it.

Im not attacking you personally but I am questioning your motivation. Whats the point a week or two before the nats rather than pose these questions afterwords.

I am going to play devil's advocate here...

What Robert did in sending the truck over is great. He wants a chance at backing up his 8.98 in Sweden by racing some of the fastest here in the US on our turf. That is to be commended. I hope our boys come out and show him a real nice race!

On the other hand, look at trucks like Ed's and John Gerbers.....if they could get away with NOT putting all that time and money into the REQUIRED safety equipment to run on the track, they may not have (although I doubt it...they both seem like intelligent people). Is there anyone else heading there that has to also abide by the rules? What about badnewz? BullySyclone? Anyone else? If I run my truck at any of my local tracks and I run faster than I teched out at, they will politely show me the door. While I did just run a great time, I also didnt play by the rules established to keep me and others around me safe. It comes down to $$$ spent I think.

Now...back to the point of the Nats....if the judges look the other way, then I think everyone out there will have a great time as long as we are all safe.

When this thread was started, I felt (and still do) that it was being used to call out Ed here to Nats to run his truck. He stated in another thread that he would not be taking the truck down to Nats, but if they felt like taking a small detour (1/2 hour), they could race at ATCO, and he would make it (barring knee injury/recouperation). Now at the same time, Tom Ferrick is from the same area, and I am sure he could have been convinced to come out if the race was over there. But it isn't. If we would have started talking about this shit 6-9 months ago regarding the possibility of a heads-up race between Ed, Sweds, Tom, and maybe others, would you (syty people) mind having the Nats over there (PA or NJ)? I know I'd care less. I would go to see the race of the year. And when it was offered for them to run at ATCO, they said no (Swedes). Was it because they for sure would not pass inspection there? I dont know. Whatever the reason, this thread was used to call out a board member, and because he will not come to Nats, a lot of people are jumping in his shit, and I dont think that's cool. Ed has a great many accomplishments that, contrary to some people, he has been an innovator by getting his own hands dirty. Ed has a monster of a truck and we all know it. Mike Lee has a very strong truck also. We are a small enough community that shouldn't get caught up in high-school antics - we are above this.

Right now my motive would be to get a straight, legitimate answer about NHRA rule compliance at the SyTy Nats. I know I've been asked to attend similar events and drive because no other drivers with a competency license were available. I've also been turned away from chassis certs for minor details such as: bar intersection less than 1/4" out of spec, seams that are not reinforced to the inspectors standards sans any written policy on the matter, etc.

Regardless of my foolish actions in the pits of a PRIVATELY OWNED track, the NHRA has much more strict policies on rule compliance. I've been told 1st run out of compliance is a verbal reprimand, second will be in writing, third will be barred from the facility and asked to leave immediately. If KCIR does not have to follow such standards (which the opposite has been reiterated to me) then so be it.

My timing is irrelevant in my opinion. I occassionly visit this forum to check things out, saw a bad@@s Syclone and a timeslip, and a question immediately popped into my head.

Take my word that I have since received phone calls from several folks (including the individual some my think I have sided with), and been told to shut up and stop being a pain--which was never my intention.

Thanks for the clarification. Hats off to KCIR for circumventing NHRA policy in order to let people have fun. So, who is doing the tech inspections? I will assume not KCIR officials since they are subsidised by the NHRA, and expected to follow the rules while they're getting paid to do so. Also, if the NHRA's rules are not followed at this event, what rules are? Is there special rules written somewhere for special circumstances?

I have no idea if KCIR is just going to look the other way during tech for these faster trucks. I assume not. They want to see an accident or someone hurt just a little as we do.

I do know of other middle-of-nowhere tracks that do let things slide though. The closest track to me being a bad offendor of that - The let a convertible corvette w/ no harness no cage, basically no safety equipment....run a loow 10 sec pass - this was without even luanching hard since it woulda been all over the place w/o slicks. A known 7-8sec setup in a streetable car...just becuase they knew the guy let him do it for the crowd. I'm sure the shit happens all the time.

And your right Mike it does happen all the time. I go to one of the worst tracks in nation. Orlando Speed World. There have been a BUNCH of times where they let brand new Vipers that are spraying 125-150 shots race more then once. Without a cage. Just a helmet.

If you want to ask a question, ask what kind of metal he used, how thick it is, how was it welded, how its welded to the frame, ect. Dont just throw out a "How's it pass safety check like that" Thats stupid and you can see where people will jump down your throat for it.

I think the prez would send me on my way; regardless of how far I traveled or what I told my buddies.

BTW. Last time I checked, out of "everyone on here" there is not one licensed tech inspector, NHRA official, or anyone with a vested interest in KCIR. So that leaves me to question the validity of all the assertations.

I can only speak for myself.... But, I don't want the NHRA there. If I were in charge(I think everyone's glad I'm not) and the NHRA offered to show up in force and for free(tech inspectors and track officials), I would say no. I won't be upset if Robert runs 8.99 or faster and it's not NHRA recognized. There maybe trucks running in the 11's without cages, if NHRA is running things, that doesn't happen. Look, Nats is laid back, people are there to have fun. I'm sure at other tracks, during a test and tune, there are a lot of people talking smack. But at Nats everyone is helping each other. With any luck, Renz is on the mic giving his own outlook on life and you know NHRA would never allow that.

Heres a man that can read things right this tread started to try calling Ed to the nat´s.. with no luck sorry to say..

The invitation to ATCO was impossible for us to do, not on behaf of safety eq on the truck or Robert wanting to race Ed or Tom, We was invited to the NAT´s and thats the dream for Robert to attend..

All our plans was possible to do and accomplish with the GREAT HELP from JEFF, hats of dude not forget about Jim either
This adventure cost us alot of money and Robert have digged deeeep down his pocket to be there so when plans was dravn there was no ATCO offer, thats why all is going to happens at the nats for us..

To re scedule our plans in this time with no more money is not possible..

In the other hand ALL of U knew allready in july that we where to come to the nat´s this time so Ed,Tom;Hoover,Badnew and the rest of U just had to make your own desition and plans to go to the nat´s if thats not possibly to do in 2-3 month whell then U missed a great nat´s.

after (trying to) translate the Swedish website, I have to say that there is quite a bit of smacktalk going on. Why are you giving Ed so much crap? Because he is the only one you guys see as a real threat to beating your times? It seems like people over on that forum pay very little respect to that. It also seems like you aren't willing to make the 1/2 hour detour to race at ATCO, but willing to drive to Miami, FL for a street race out there.

I hope I am reading the translation incorrectly. I hope you guys aren't coming over here to stroke your egos.....you have a fast truck and that is great. But again I dont think we need to stoop to this level. If he can't make it down to Nats to race you, then take the race to him. If you are willing to street race in Miami...you could have race Ed when the truck got into town just 1/2 an hour away.

I dont want anyone to misunderstand what I am saying or doing here....I am not a cheerleader for Ed. I have been in his shoes before...it's what turned me away from SPL competitions years ago. We are too few in numbers. We ALL DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT.

It's more like a 12 hour detour.

Thier trip is starting from Louisville, KY, and heading west to KC, and then BACK to Louisville.......I think they've explained before that had they know he was going to be a no-show at Nats, they would've planned for that, however at this stage in the game, there is no way to get that arranged.

I'm sure if they were stroking thier ego's then they wouldn't be chasing money races in other states, they'de be spending tons of cash to come race someone who won't/can't come to nats.

I also think that ultimately they have plenty of respect for Ed, and there is some friendly ribbing going on about a bum knee, and him not wanting to attend nats for whatever other reason. Remember, we're translating from swedish 4,500 miles away. Sometimes the meaning gets distorted in the wires across the ocean.

BTW, I'm a chearleader for the Swede's......just don't ask me to dress like one

fwiw cecil county usually hooks better than atco.
