Re: EGT Gauge install

hey tyson,

downpipe is most practical...manifolds or crossover is probably better...isn't the new plx device taking a reading from the o2 location? i put mine between my stock o2 bung and the one i welded in for the wb02....right on the downpipe....it's reading between 900f cruise to 1300f at the end of a punch session....be careful with metal shavings if you drill and install anywhere pre-turbo....i'm sure you know that....

I put mine in the pipe of the 3 bolt to 4 bolt adaptor on the ATR DP.The best one I've seen is on Swede's truck, put it in the exhaust manifold in the #1 cylinder.

Re: EGT Gauge install

Good thread. Let's hear from everyone else with EGT gauges. I'm planning on getting the PLX R-500, but I just told Mike (RPM) to weld in an EGT bung with sender for me before he ships the downpipe out. I didn't realize the PLX could read EGT temps from the 02 sensor - that doesn't sound right.

It depends on how you drive it but normale driving and crusing it is about 1100 to 1200 deg .

So what's the magic F value one should never exceed with a stock motor SyTy? The temp where stuff starts melting?

Re: EGT Gauge install

Anyone know where to buy just the clamp-syle probe with about 6-8 feet of wire? I seem to have lost mine......... everyone I found seems to want to sell both the temperature meter with the probe.
