I put this in with 1.5" X 1/8 thick strips vertical for mounting, and a variable temp controller with a 180 deg thermastat with the stock shroud. Drove it in 100 deg days with it running no more than mid scale on our not so accurate gauges. Works great & wasn't too expensive.:tup:

x2 Had to run my own wiring though, The fan controller they supply with it melted in about a month.
I've had the Flex-A-Lite 220 on my truck for years. Cools just fine in South GA heat. Not the cheapest (or lightest on amperage), but a good setup (seems to be replaced by PN 420).

Yep, same fans that me and my bud have been running for years. The fit on our trucks is about as good as you can get for an off the shelf piece:
Yes, it is pricey and it draws a lot of amps but it's hard to argue with 2,500 CFM worth of cooling. People are always "blown away" by how much air that they move.

Did you wire your ground wire directly back to the battery? It is NEVER a good practice to ground anything that has a high draw through sheet metal... The draw needs to have as little resistance as possible getting back to the battery to prevent heat build up and risk of fire.

Great idea! Funny I was planning on doing the same thing with that fan on the Ty to keep it looking stock.

Any pictures of your setup? I have one of these fans tucked away but it seems too deep. I would love to convert to electric fans.

I have it grounded directly to the frame.. The problem was one of those fan controllers that has a probe for the radiator. It was running both fans and it couldn't handle it. Now I have each fan wired independently with a relay on each, and its been fine. Granted I haven't really driven my truck all that much in last couple years though...
