engine cut out?

i have a 1992 typhoon recently purchased,,im sure the truck is chipped. when the truck boost from 13psi and up the truck will cut out for a a second or to and the check engine light will come on.. you guys have any ideas on what could be causing this??

Give us the run down on what is on the truck, and just as a sugetion if you plan on keeping the truck for a while it would be a wise invesment to get a Datamaster to help you with these hicups that out trucks have. And where are you at?

Sounds like a dangerous "overboost" condition. Especially if your "13 psi" is measured with the factory "boost gauge" which is notoriously inaccurate. You'll need a mechanical (Autometer for example) Boost gauge to really measure your boost pressure (unless you already have one).

Well i plan on keeping this truck forever because i love them, my father had two before me and they are one of his favorite cars,,i have an autometer boost guage and the engine will cut out at 13-18psi.the truck came from cali 10 years ago i am the 3rd owner it has an intake,,exhaust and a chip but im not sure what kind. milage is 76000. when the problem happens the truck will throw the check engine for a few seconds then it will turn off,,seems like an electrical problem....im from mahopac new york

You better start reading up on overboost, you can blow a motor from this dangerous problem. At least 3 different SyTys here have blown motors just in the last 2 weeks. (Not from overboost but, you don't want to become #4).

I would also make shure if you haven't already put 93 octain in that motor, the 91 is kinda iffy from what I have read. But do all the readin at Tookys site there is a bunch of good info.

might just have a pitbull chip in it,and you should not be going that high on boost with that

Could it be the wastegate rod out of adjustment too?

had same problem turned out to be plugs leads and dist cap
changed that lot and prob went away

check all the vacuum lines going to the wastgate, it really sounds like overboost to me, i've been there, my vacuum line kept coming off after my turbo swap and doing that exact same thing. if you are getting to 18psi on a 2bar map, its deffinatly going to send an overboost code and cut off
