What did you do to them or have done? Valves, springs, rockers. I know alot of people have these heads on there truck but nobody is sharing what they have done. Where are good spot's to remove casting when porting. What kind of head bolts are you using? Come out of the closet. Part #'s wil also help. I am going to build a set along with port matching everything on the top end of my motor. What else can be done to beef it up? I have done countless searches on this topic and found nothing for the L-35's, all newer style Vortec work and there was not much said there either.

That's a good start, how much did Mccoy charge to do the heads? Thanks bud! Anyone else?

McCoy's got a slightly used set (1,300 miles) of ported and polished L35's from my motor. I upgraded to Vortecs. *Think* he said around $1,000 for them? If interested, call him, tell him my name (My Sy is down there now), and ask about the heads. See what he says.

I'm thinking about getting the McCoy Vortec Stage 2 heads and having him port my lower intake etc. Will those heads bolt right onto my otherwise stock motor? My understanding is these flow better than the L-35s and are less succeptible to detonation. They're pricey at $2000 but I want to put stuff that's going to last on my motor. When the bottom end blows, I'll go for a McCoy short block.

Thanks

mrwheelr get in contact with jwaller for the heads, he sells the heads foe $1300 and will make the intake bolt-up for 200-300, and you can get everything else from him like rockers and what not. He does not port the heads for 1300 just upgraded valves 2.05, 1.60 (these things are huge) and upgraded springs, and modified to bolt up to intake. Make sure you buy a cam when doing it also, basically contact jwaller and he will set you up good, he will be back on the 5th or so. If you have some simple questions you can email me and I will help as much as I can. Hu Ryde, I don't know the specs but I am sure Jwaller will let you know what springs to get, about the porting I would possibly talk to a local speed shop and see how much they will charge and what they recommend doing. Good luck with your search.

Hu Ryde. I am interested in some L-35's as well. I hope to find a used set and do all the work myself. I want to port match the heads and remove the rough spots in the runners and smooth it out. If you get any replies please forward them to the BB so we can all benefit. Any advice on porting out there?
I would love to just buy a set already done, but i have a wedding to pay for this year. For some reason my truck has taken a back seat to this wedding. :D
Thanks in advance.

So far I've gotten no help on P&P. When I do mine I'll take pics and do a write up on it.
