There was a guy on here a few weeks back that needed to sell his 5000mile Typhoon. I think he was trying to get 18,000 for it before the bank took it back. thats as close to new as I think you'll find in a Syclone or Typhoon

THANK YOU!!!! I just emailed him! ::brews::

hated cuz he drives fords
I've had no issues with my sy since purchase except an overboost issue which was a cracked vacuum line.. I have many friends that own fire chickens and z's and i busted them all up with my lil 5.0... so they don't even get the chance to see the back of my sy.

Anyway I'd go with the sy because like someone else already stated above.. they are very rare and you see a million z28s and transams on the road and many are old lady driven which bothers me when I roll up next to a nice black ws6 and look over all pumped up only to see that it's this 50 yr lady talking on a cell phone. Damn! but anyway I enjoy having something that others don't have or don't have a clue what it really is...

LOL!!! You know I was talking about that yesterday with my friends. It seems like middle aged women like WS6's more then men do? I know I was all excited when I saw the first 98 Black WS6 over where I live and there was a older lady in it!!! There is also a burnt orange WS6 that I pass everyday on my way to work and an older lady drives it. Not that there is anything wrong with that I love it when women drive fast cars/bikes whatever, just weird you don't seen as many men in them!!

IMO cause chicks get a WAY better deal on insurance (since they dont drive while talking on a cel phone, putting on make up, reading a novel/newpaper, etc.... and yes Ive seen one or ALL the above taking place at ~75mph  ).

Hell, I could go buy a new C5 but Id hafta park it in the garage and look at it cause I refuse to pay double what it costs for insurance.

Why a TA or Z28? Why not a Firehawk or SS? and if you want new, why not just wait till the come back out with the F-body again (should be soon).

Personally I would say F-body because I'm more partial to them (had a Type-LT Camaro for my first car).

I believe (i'm not going to do the research on this right now) that there were two types of Camaro's that were being offered as they were going out; 1. your standard types 2. a limited production type that I think was pumping out 385 hp...

thats my 2, but it really comes down to what you want to do!

These trucks are cursed
ive always been a truck guy, my first truck was a 4banger 91 S-10, then i got a 94 Blazer, and now a Syclone... so basically ive had the same truck for 8 years and theres no going back for me...

a friend of mine has a firehawk and another friend has an 02 WS6, which both destroy my syclone from 80+, but i own them in the 1/8th.... ive driven plenty of TAs, SS's and mustangs, and none of them leave the line like a syty. and i couldnt agree more with the sleeper aspect. nothing better than seeing the look on someones face when they get beat by a 10 year old blazer/Sonoma.
as far as maintinance goes... knock on wood ive had my sy for 2 years now, and the only thing ive replaced was the propshaft and my window motors. the rest has all been typical maintenance shit. im sure in the long run an fbody is gonna be more reliable than a syty. and if you get in an accident itll be a lot easier and cheaper to fix TA than a syty, i speak from experience. Ray Moore could probably retire with the money ive spent on cladding from him hahaha

bottom line if you want something rare, functional, and quick, and are willing to deal with high maintenance, and the insults of people calling your ty a blazer with a body kit, then get the ty! if youd rather have something fast that everyone and their brother has, is pretty reliable, and easy to maintain, and cheap to fix, then go with the TA. either way youre still fucked at the pump with this 2.45 a gallon bullshit! cost me $42 to fill up my sy yesterday! :fist:

Do you mind fixer uppers.

Do you mind fixer uppers.

Do you mind fixer uppers , I might have a Ty that needs work. Paint and some maintenance. I am in the process of having 7000$ in warrantee repairs. Brand new Oem front drive shaft , U joints. Trannyand TC. And a brand new Oem wastegate assembly... I havent picked it up yet and havent decided whether I want to sell it. But I thought I would throw it out.
The main thing is the paint because a shit for brains side swiped it. I have all the cladding!!

It has 89000 miles on it. and is still the best daily driver I ever had. WHO AM I KIDDING I WONT SELL IT!!!.

If you are going to the dealer, i hope they put in the right tranny...I would quadtriple check if I where you...The dealer near me does not even know what a sy is, let alone how to fix one. Do all repairs yourself, its the ONLY way IMO.

Back to the original topic

F-body: Everyone and thier dumbass friend has one. Most of the little highschool kids have one. They are cheap.

Syclone: Lots of labor. Lots of money. Lots of time. I hate that f'ing truck sometimes. ----->BUT<----- I can drive down the road and not see two dozen more.

They are both slow as shit!

Are people that rich in Lewisville/Dallas? I don't see how a late model performance (not plain jane 6) F-Body thats tappin 40k+/- is cheap. Jobs must be good in Lewisville/Dallas...

You're thinking of that wonderfull GM retail figure right? Cause GM vehicles never depreciate off the lot.

ShIt

Id swear on my dad's grave. 90% of all F-bodies around here are owned by 22 and younger. Yep SS'a and all. Marcus high school must have 30+ in the parking lot that have every bolt on you can do. Not to mention there is just a load of F-bodies period

The popular saying around here is

"F-bodies are like assholes, everybodies got one"

C-5's down here are almost "totaly" driven by women. Another saying "buy a vet and your dick will fall off and you'll grow tits."

I guess someone was asking for an honest opinion.
I'll try - If I am allowed to:

I've got my Ty for some years meanwhile and it all depends how you abuse it.
Let's start with the basic stuff.
Welcome to American engineering (inside and out).
Good old push-rod engine, VERY reliable if not abused, breaks instantly if you step all the time on it.
I broke a piston ring beating the crap out of my stock motor and put my former VP of Sales into tears since he couldn't get away with his M3... btw this was in Germany with NO speed limit.

I am on my fourth tranny, didn't know enough about them in the beginning but they glow in the dark if you overdo it - that's a fact, not a joke.
Spend some $$$ for a good trans. (sources here in the board) and you can keep silence about this problem. Brakes and other things can be improved depending on your wishes and budget. Put good shocks and a sway-bar in, refine the bushings and some ricer may eat dust in the corners.
So far the basics - spend $$$ and get a beast, even a reliable one, play stupid and spend the $$$'s for repairs - Easy rule, isn't it.

Inside - Hmmm don't fry me now, American cars like to rattle like a snake... it can be fixed with TLC... the biggest difference, the Ty tailgate squeaks while the F-Body rear window humms ... urgh ... both are American cars, both are from GM - they didn't learn a thing (IMO).

Assumption:
Buy and old truck you don't see at every corner. Get a "thing" where even 70 year old guys at the car wash approach you and ask questions. Own an F-Body and be a guy in the mass - regardless what power you have. It's up to YOU!

I was stupid enough to ship this truck twice over the ocean - should say you something - hate it or love it, nothing in-between!
I love mine, with any shake and rattle. Believe me I had better cars, MUCH better cars, all and only German ones, beside a Toyota Supra Turbo, I am bitch enough to say that I know what quality is but after all negative words I'll keep her for her personality. And even after almost 10 years owning her, I have every single morning a smile on my face when I turn the key - currently my daily driver - guess what - my 92 Typhoon
