Could be but it also appears to be a shadow of sorts. It is just so hard to tell.

The one in the LW3 pic has the cloth sides on the PS seat....Brian showed pics of his and it was all leather :dunno:

The seats may have been changed after the movie was shot. Beats me!

Are the cutouts on the rims painted darker? Looks like it in the movie pics too.

Yeah, the inserts are painted black and the wheels are polished. I don't know, to me it looked like stock syty rims in the movie. Again, that may have been changed after the fact?

Edit, you know, looking at the pic above through the blinds, they do appear to be painted. There was another pic posted though of the drivers side and in that pic, the rims.appeared to be stock.

Did anyone read the comments on that page? http://www.syty.org/old/history.html under 1991 Typhoon suggests the LW3 Ty is a '91 prototype and another guy claims to have a '91 Ty with vin provided.

The SyTy.org info saying the movie truck was a prototype was speculation. The guy who mentions a '91 proto with a VIN mentions that it's black. He appears to have posted on that page looking for info on his specific truck not the movie truck. I sent that guy an email 4 or 5 months ago and never got a response.

Finally, after a long week and a half, Ty 0404 has finally made it to its new home! When all is said and done, the previous owner Bill was a pleasure to do buisiness with! He was a little tough along the way, but he is just set in his ways. I could tell as the truck left he was bummed out. But, at least its going to a good home and will be cared for! Now onto the pics!

Here she was being dropped off. Didnt want to take any chances driving it since its sat for 5 years now.

Overall, i'd say the truck is in good shape! It need some TLC, but i'm confident it will clean up nicely. I'm gonna take it to my detail guy, and see what he can do with it!. Also, look at the seats, they are all leather 92 seats! Never seen another set like them! Not sure if they came that way from the factory or not, but they look 100% original so who knows.

As T-Bone stated welcome to the Aspen club! I am glad to see it worked out for you and you will be happy for years to come, and dont let any of the BS get you, you found it you bought it end of story, ENJOY!:tup:

:tup: thanks! I love it! Detailed the interior on it today. It really cleaned up nicely! Now I have a couple calls out for exterior guys to see what they can do to bring a shine back to the paint.

Question for the community.... What should i do about the tailgate? Paint it or keep it as is. I don't plan to mod this truck at all and I love that the original paint is still in good shape everywhere else except the tailgate. It wouldn't cost.much to shoot it but would that take away from its originality?

It you want to keep its originality leave the tailgate as is. If you want it to look nicer get another tailgate and paint that one and keep the original as is.

Find a pro to buff out the paint and have the tailgate resprayed.

I bet the paint is super thin,so find a pro with a paint thickness gauge and experience.

It's probably saveable except for the gate.The wrong ****er will burn right through it in a heartbeat.

If it was mine,I'd hand rub it with some high quality Carnuba wax.Like Mothers Carnuba Cleaner Wax.

I would do this, get another tailgate and have it sprayed.

If you are looking for someone who does really good to do detail work, that knows what they are doing look into these guys. I have not used them, but they are on a local board and their work looks to be top notch. I know they are in Michigan, and they are not cheap, but they have paint gauges, and do amazing work.

Thats not a bad idea. This way it can be put back to stock but wont look all shitty in the meantime.

I bet your right about the paint being very thin jimmy. I do plan to use someone who knows what they are doing so it doesn't get all trashed.
