You don't want to run a flowmaster. Too much backpressure. You want to go with a more straight through design muffler.

x2! When I bought mine, it had a Flowmaster on it. Replaced it with a Magnaflow hi-flow cat and hi-flow muffler and sounds better than it did with the Flowmaster, IMO. Got mine from Summit Racing.

Re: Fowmaster

The stock Typhoon muffler is 2.5" In/out with the tailpipe necks up to 3" right after the muffler. If its had exhuast work before, it could be different, you will have to look.

Re: Flowmaster

I actually talked to a couple of Flowmaster guys on a flight to Seattle from Santa Rosa a few years ago. They're made in Santa Rosa among other places. To my knowledge they do not make a "straight through" muffler. (Required for a turbo vech. of almost any kind IMHO.) It was an interesting chat. They would not deveiate from their "our baffles reduce back pressure and sound great" claim. Correct on a non turbo car but not turbo.

Whatever...

Part Number by chance? and i beleive its 3 in / 3 out right?

Stay away from Flowmaster, there are good for destroying your cat if you still have one. I have had an ATR system on my truck for ten years. The muffler is a Dyno Max Ultra Flow and sounds about as good as you can get a 4.3 V6 to sound.

How many people do muffler deletes?

I was mufflerless for a few years before I got my PTE 70MM turbo installed. With the downpipe uncapped, it was crazy loud (able to set off car alarms). Put the muffler back on after I got an electric dump and now I can be as quiet as a church mouse if I want. It has already saved me from getting a few tickets...

Re: Flowmaster

My Sy has been mufflerless for almost 15 years. It's not loud at all....unless you romp on it. :dunno:

I agree, they are really loud w/no muffler, they are pretty loud w/a straight through muffler when you romp on it.

Definately will get the cops attention w/no muffler.

I think most people think it sounds like a$$ w/no muffler.

I have gotton compliments on how my exhaust sounds w/a straight through muffler.

My muffler is like a Gibson muffler, pretty big overall to keep it somewhat quite.
