i have a 90 S10 AWD with a v8, I put a ford 9 " in the rear to hold up to the abuse. i was wondering what to do with the front diff because now i have a strong drivetrain other then the stock 7 5/8 front diff, So i was wondering if there is any thing that is out there that could repalce the stocker, that was stronger. i was wondering if a front diff from a full sized truck could be fitted in with modifcation.

How fast is your truck? What kind of power does the motor put out?

Re: front diff

The front that you have right now is the 7.2 IFS. The ZR2 trucks have the full size truck 8.2 IFS. If you can adapt the ZR2 parts to your truck then you can have the stronger differential. You can also use a Dana 44 from the front of an older '70s Ford 4X4, but it will be a solid axle. You would have to change all of the front suspension and narrow it to make it work. Might be easier than adapting the ZR2 parts.

Re: front diff

Wouldn't a solid front axle drive and handle like ass? I would think ZR2 parts would be a direct bolt in since it's just another S-10?" I would want the ZR2 rear end also since they lengthened the axle to match the front so you don't need different offset rims any more and they came with discs but you allready have a better rear end so...

Re: front diff

I'm pretty sure that the front of the frame on the ZR2 was different from the other S10s. I might be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
