tie rod ends are bad. to check the ball joints you need to jack the tire up enough to put a big pry bar between the ground and tire, then pull up on the bar and see if you have any slop. i also can supply you with any moog chassis parts you need at a good deal. good luck and let us know what you find out.

While you at it, you may consider doing whole thing http://www.p-s-t.com/fektvpg.html
By the way, bad shock will cause clunking

ball joints seem ok from the test......how much to replace the tie rod ends? also would it be worth while to have the whole front end done with one of those kits?? how much would it cost to get that installed? thanks

first thing you should do is take it in for an alignment. that way they can check it out and see what you need. it might be just a shock but is most likely an outer tie rod. i will check on a price and get back to you.

You can also check your front differential mounts for wear. I had a clunk that was very loud when the wheels were turned to one side and I accelerated, mostly at low speeds such as in parking lots. With the propshaft out, there was no clunking. It turned out the the differential was moving enough to make metal-to-metal contact between the differential case and mounting brackets. Good Luck.
