Yes both the gilbert and D&D are far superior than a stock prop shaft. D&D is what Blake has been selling for the last 2-3 years.:tup:

The D&R driveline front propshaft is a great unit. Some of you older-timers might remember that I started a GP on it back in early 2006 - way before anyone else. I put up plenty of pics and dimensions. I sold quite a few units to people who would rather remain anonymous- their quality is superb!

Does the shaft just bolt right up? This is something I should upgrade once I go with a bigger turbo then my TE45A.

I'll post a couple tomorrow along side the stock one if no-one else does tonight.

They look good and are clearly much stronger.

They do bolt right up. There are 4 TORX bolts holding the front end on, it's a good idea to replace those (Mike, SY2932 sells kits for that).

The stock one is 3.25" shorter than the prop shaft in my pic because I am installing the 4L80E.

Adding this to my build list....nice pics and thanks for all the info. Two more questions:

1.) With the upgraded prop shaft, how much whp and wtorq can it handle?

2.) How much do the stock Syclone rears and shaft hold up. Would 600 whp and wtorq be pushing it?

You need to search - there isn't an exact number but I am hoping to run 600hp / ftlbs or thereabouts and expect it to be ok.

if you have it, why wouldn't you? haven't heard of a gilbert breaking though so the purists might eliminate the weight but it is cheap insurance if you missed something...

Is the one to get IMO, I have owned a gilbert, stock, and now a D&R.

Last time I bought some 80e shafts there were ~$250 shipped to my door. Gilbert is ~$400 or so now and no stronger at all.

DR uses stock flange on the front, so less work also, just bolts in.

Can you post some pictures of D&R if you don't mind. I am going with 4L80E as well and will be needing them.:myclone:

Its a round bar about 3' long, has some goofy joints on the ends.

Mine broke in the SY. when I had it, did not hit the trans, but did put A nice dent in the trans tunnel..

My front prop shaft is squeaking like mad. I replaced a front hub first thinking it was a wheel bearing.:banghead:

Anyway, I just got off the phone with D & R. $285 plus shipping. He (Jack or Jake, can't remember) builds them as orders come in. He is waiting on one part (ETA Thursday) and hopes to have it out the door on Friday.

I am going to buy the front bolts from Mike (SY2932). Should I reuse or replace the rear bolts?

Rear drive shaft bolts, no, if you refering to the rear bolts on the prop shaft to bolt kit comes with 8 bolts for front & rear of the prop. I got A set from Mike, nice bolts.
